    1. Vision and hearing are generally believed to be the two most highly prized senses. If I ever were to lose both of these senses, It would be highly traumatic. Especially losing my eyesight. The visual sense plays a huge role in our daily lives. With the control of eye sight, the human vision allows us to perceive our surroundings. If I ever were to lose my eyesight, my life would have a drastic change. I would not be able to dress on my own, watch movies, see the people I love, and most importantly I would have no visual appearance of myself. The loss of hearing would not affect me with the same extend as losing my visual sense. Although, it prevent me from listening to my surroundings it would not be as difficult to get around as it would if I were to be blind.…

It was the summer before my junior year of college, and as I returned to school that fall I was noticeably preoccupied with my mother’s cancer battle at home. Several times I considered putting my studies on hold and returning to help my mom full time, but I was reminded of something she often repeated when I was going through difficult times. “Don’t let life’s adversities lead you off your path. You have to stay the course.”It was difficult advice to follow, but I had come too far on my journey to stop at that point. If I continued on I would be the first male in my family to finish college, and I knew I had to, “stay the course.” In honor of my mom and grandmothers I resolved to pursue a career in the medical field, and as I learned about pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics in my Drug Synthesis and Design course during my senior year, I determined that that career would be in pharmacy.…

This paper examines a “complete friendship” in Aristotle’s Nicomachean Ethics. A complete friendship in Aristotle’s understanding has three vital components: pleasure, utility, and the good. How do these three factors work together to form a complete friendship? This paper explores these areas: the three aspects of a complete friendship and how working together, they constitute a stable complete friendship; why a complete friendship is beneficial; and what does not constitute a complete friendship. I will first illustrate the component of pleasure in a complete friendship, and how there is a lack of stability in pleasure itself. Second, I will examine how utility is part of a complete friendship, and how there is also a lack of stability in utility. Third, I will discuss what can be considered the most important component, the good, which, because it contains Aristotle’s concepts of love and virtue, is stable. Finally, I will examine how the three factors add up to a complete stable friendship, meaning that none of these components alone will create a complete friendship, but a complete friendship will only be created if all of the aforementioned components appear in a relationship together. Additionally, I will describe two examples of an incomplete friendship.…

Like Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz, my choice to pursue pharmacy was not laid out so colorfully before me. From the age of five, I was so sure a doctor was what I wanted to be. My plans changed, however, when I was taken off the yellow brick road and led in a new direction. I was placed in a pharmacy tech class the first day of my senior year of high school instead of the clinical rotation class I signed up for because that class was full. Rather than loathe this whole experience, I decided to make the best of it.…
