I am a hard working student who has developed new skills and the ability to take on challenges regardless of how difficult they are. I know all about hard work as an international student. Since I became a refugee, I have had to learn two new languages and cultures. This helped me learn to be more flexible and understanding of people from different cultures. The certain qualities that make me a good leader are empathy and creativity. I am good at listening to any type of person and guiding a group as a whole. Speaking of character when working with others, I have always shown politeness to the teachers and friendliness to the students around me. I have never refused a request for help, which I often get, and seek those who are in need of help. It is a joy to be able to help others because it is an obligation to my culture and religion to make someone else happy.
My lifetime goal is to challenge others to understand that education is very important to our society and me. This is something that is always with us and that no one else can take from us; it cannot be measured. It’s an ocean that never ends. Its value is unmatched. With this in mind, I am confident that all of my hard work, dedication, and determination will lead me to achieve great success at the University of Louisville by pursuing a career in the Pharmacy

I, up to the age of 13 lived in the country of Saudi Arabia. My father went there on a transfer in the 1980’s. My parents gave birth to me in the port city of Jeddah and I attended a British International School during my pre-teen years. I was admitted into the KS3 program. Lack of communication with fellow Saudi Arabians caused me a lot of distress. However, as a result I started learning Arabic, the national language of Saudi Arabia. Soon, I became fluent in the language and could speak like an Arab. I loved the practice of learning new languages, so I started learning Urdu, my parents’ language while I was studying ‘Intermediate Spanish’ and mastering the English Language in full depth. By the time I was 11, I could speak four languages fluently and could converse in Spanish. My family and I then decided to move back to the state of Texas in the year 2013. It was a humungous change. From the British curriculum to the American curriculum, from the metric system to the imperial system, from private schooling to public…

He strode over to the table, seeming enthusiastic to do the interview, he sat down with a grin. I decided to start the interview, when a Dairy Queen employee came over with the food. When I opened my mouth to ask the first question, he shuffled around in the booth a little. Once comfy, he started to answer the question about what college he went to. To my surprise, he didn’t go to college until he was in his 50’s because he “didn’t have good enough grades”. That had to have hurt his self of steam a little because if he didn’t care or want to go to college, then why did he go to college later in life. So I decided to ask him questions about what he did instead.…

Anthony Bryant Jr. is a man who is willing to sacrifice his free time in order to chase his goals. He started out watching the p90x infomercial late one night because he had nothing else to do and just wanted to see what it was like. He began to ask around and see if anyone he knew had the program and if it gave the results that were promised. Luckily, he ran into an old friend who had recently lost the motivation to stick with the program, and asked if he could try it out for himself. “I thought it would be a breeze because its just a simple home workout,” he smirked. When school started, I was among the few top, active students who received high grades in all subjects. By the end of elementary school, I became a proud Arabic native speaker, and in high school I offered tutoring sessions to help fellow students with complex Arabic grammar and other scientific subjects. My love for languages and cultures did not fade away with the mastery of Arabic. I was equally attracted to the beautiful sounds and global status of the English language. Making use of every available learning resource, I became a good English user, and a lot of struggling students turned to me for help. Those remedial sessions along with my experience as a language learner made me realize the endless rewards of acquiring (learning?) a new language. When I graduated from high school, I had a crystal clear picture of what my career path would look like, and that was becoming a language…
