It is an honor and a privilege to be nominated to be a part of such a prestigious organization. This shows that my hard work has paid off. I was a member of the National Jr. Honor Society in Jr. High and one of my goals was to also become a member at the High School Level. The National Honor Society is known for recognizing students with the following qualifications, scholarship, leadership, service, and character. I believe that I show leadership qualities by being an excellent academic student. I have worked hard to achieve my goals, which are to make good grades, rank in the top 10% of my class, and graduate with honors. I continue to push myself to excel, I have been on the AB Honor Roll since elementary school; and I am currently #8 in my graduation class. I know that I am capable of being a leader, I am trustworthy, dependable, disciplined and responsible. I expect more of myself than my teachers and parents do. I am a true friend, I do not tell my friends what they want to hear, I tell them the truth. I am not a follower, I am a leader and I plan to be a leader on into my college years. …show more content…
I have been blessed with two wonderful parents who have instilled in me that you have to treat people the way you want to be treated, and that starts with respect.
You have to respect yourself before you can respect anyone else. As a student here at Royal High School I have seen many students that are very disrespectful to adults; they do not understand the meaning of character, if they did, they would do things differently. If one of my friends ever got out of line with an adult, I would tell them that their behavior is unacceptable, if I allowed my friend to act that way and I did not say anything, then I would be upholding them in their
ways.
I am also a person who truly cares about the well being of others; if I see someone that is less fortunate than I am, I am willing to help that person in anyway that I can. It is easy for teenagers to get all caught up in themselves; but I am not one of those teenagers.
I have always taken pride in doing my best, and that meant staying on top of my grades. Another goal that I have is to attend college and my parents have always told me that you have to work hard for what you want; and that is why I have been preparing myself by taking AP classes, taking college entrance exams and attending summer programs at local Universities.
I look forward to hearing from the committee regarding my membership. Thank you again for offering the opportunity to become a part of this organization.
