The trauma surgeon then has to quickly asses the situation and determine how to prioritize the damage. Determining what kind of diagnostic tests and what other physicians are needed on the case are also responsibilities of the trauma surgeon. In some cases, up to ten or more specialized surgeons are essential for one patient. The ability to quickly analyze any situation is vital in the field of medicine, but even more dire for a trauma doctor. When things become more serious, “If surgery is needed, the trauma surgeon may also perform the surgery.
