Planning a Field Trip
Planning a Fieldtrip

Before planning a field trip, I considered the theme we were currently engaging. Then I decided on taking a trip to the Fire Station because we were talking about fire safety. Earlier in the week, we had a fire drill and talked about things we should do in case of a real fire. First I did a little research by contacting the fire station to see if there would be a fee, check group size limit, and ages allowed. Then I proceeded with making the necessary arrangements for the trip. I make arrangements with the facility for a specific day, set a time for us to arrive, and requested any information that would help us prepare for the visit. I contacted parents and informed them of the field trip and all of the details. I also asked for volunteers and reminded them to bring their cameras. During the field trip, we planned to arrive a few minutes early. We had a firefighter to greet us and talk to the children about fire safety, and the rules before entering the fire truck.
After the field trip I sent a general thank you note and encourage individual families to do the same as well. After getting back to center, I discussed the trip with the children, and asked open-ended questions to get them talking; such as, what did you like most about what we saw? What surprised you about this field trip? How has what you saw today make you feel about fire stations? Where would you like our next field trip to

To do this he needs to follow all leads in the target market. He should begin by placing an ad in the local newspaper. Fenwick needs to make the target market aware. He could also place flyers in the mail, the town hall, churches, local gym, pizza parlor, or bar. These flyers should be placed locally because he needs to attract and catch the attention of local individuals. These flyers should include informative material (what job is needed, the tasks, and where), persuading material (the benefits of the job) and a phone number to reach. Besides this, the station should hold an open house drill night. This would help to recruit, provide good public relations, and will show the community where their donations go. Showing the community an inside look would persuade them to donate and possibly spark attention to join the team. Fenwick can also capture attention by hosting holiday parties at the station. Because it is sometimes hard to spark interest in older generations, the fire station should begin recruiting young. After reading a forum on why people became firefighters, most stated they were exposed to it at a young age. Some of their parents worked in the field, while others lived close by, or had friends parents who were firefighters. Knowing this, Fenwick should begin a youth fire program. The crew can educate the children young and expose them to all aspect of the trade. They can also begin training them on…

I chose to conduct my ethnographic research with the ----- Fire Authority of ---- -------, CO. Most specifically, I conducted this research within the fire stations of the ------ Fire Authority, shadowing and interviewing people of various rankings. I chose to research within the fire stations as my main interest was in how life was like in the fire station and what it was like to be a woman in the fire service. I carried out this research by spending around six and a half hours shadowing at the fire stations as well as conducting interviews with two different firefighters, one of which was a driver operator, as well as one battalion chief. My experience with the fire department was nothing short of insightful and I was truly honored to be around such great men and women that are so willing to serve their community.…

I really enjoyed the sociology fieldtrip; I thought it was really cool to be able to apply sociology to real life situations. We started off with going to the Milwaukee County Courthouse. There, we were able to talk to a judge and hear about his job as well as hear some cases. Then, we went to the Hope House, which personally, was my favorite part of the trip. Lastly, we went to Habitat for Humanity, which was also very interesting.…

On my trip to the Juan Francesco Luis Hospital, I just wanted to meet the people who would show us the different areas that we went to, and who they were. So, they finally came and there were 2 ladies Ms .Melonie Montoute (Nurse Recruiter) and Ms. Pamela Toussaint (Director of Recruiting). There were 34 of us on this field trip and out of the 2 ladies we had to choose who to go with and so forth. As they introduced themselves, they also told us about the history of the hospital. So, in 1982 the government received funds to open up the new hospital which was then named St. Croix Hospital and was changed to Juan F. Luis in 1994. They also asked us what we would like to be that has anything pertaining to working in the nursing, and ultrasound technician and so forth. After that we split into two groups. One group went with Ms. Toussaint and other classmates and I went with Ms. Montoute. The first place we went to learn about was the E.R (Emergency Room). And the head nurse (Donna JnBaptiste-Manning) is who told us about theirs jobs.…

Paula J. Vaughan Project Manager Information Technology Services Campus Box 455 University of Colorado at Boulder Boulder, Colorado 80309-0455 Paula.Vaughan@Colorado.EDU The University of Colorado at Boulder, founded in 1876 when Boulder and the State of Colorado chose to build a university rather than a prison System implementation efforts offer extraordinary challenges to information technology professionals and the organizations impacted by the implementations. A successful implementation can reap vast rewards in organizational strengths and efficiencies. A failure can drain an organization of people, funds and vitality. Consequently, many people have puzzled over the reasons for the successes and failures experienced with these implementations. This paper examines these puzzlings as offered through scholarly research and first-hand reports of system implementations within institutions of higher education and discovers that many answers lie outside the bounds of technology. Scholarly works offered the following important considerations for system implementations: • • • • • • The interaction of technology and the organization – a broad concept that lays the groundwork for many of the other factors for consideration. User involvement and participation – influenced by a number of variables that must be carefully balanced in order to ensure success of the involvement. Resistance – can work for or against a project depending upon how it is managed. Commitment – an essential ingredient for success but, because it involves a plethora of forces including the human psyche, is a challenge to achieve and maintain. Planning – more able to be controlled by project managers than other success factors, and involving many critical components. Risks – exist with every project but must be anticipated and managed in order to achieve success.…

As I arrived just in time at the meeting place, which by the way is a cemetery, everyone was already there. My fellow students were already there, with their stuffed bags and with headsets covering their ears. The teachers were all ready and were busy coordinating with whoever they should be talking to. Minutes after the wait and as Mr Sun began to show itself, we were already instructed to go up and seal seats in our respective buses. It was then when I saw a short and perky girl who happened to be our tour guide for the trip. To cut the long story short, a lot of things happened within the 14 hour event. Since a lot of descriptions wouldn’t be mentioned here, I’d rather give you the highlights of my experience. First on the list was the knowledge that our batch was blessed enough to be a part of the fieldtrip since fieldtrips happen not so often in our school. We were given the opportunity to enjoy at least a day out of school and see places that one normally cannot see and be at. Although some of them gave us a Déjà vu, such as the water factory which has been consistent in accommodating us since last year. Another thing that marked a spot in my memory was the Tour Guide’s instruction to us that we call our bus driver ‘Coach Captain’ which is a much preferred term. It was kind of funny yet it was one thing that I learned. It was just like saying that one is mentally ill instead of crazy. To tell you honestly, the tour guide wasn’t really that bad or boring as I was expecting. She managed to catch my attention despite the…
