Plant Superintendent Larry Braxton Case Summary
Answer 1:
According to the facts presented in the case, the Plant Superintendent Larry Braxton, was managing daytoday operations of the Edison plant, which was one of the first five plants built by Mount Ridge
Engineering Systems. This plant is located in Eastern Nova Scotia and has 45 employees working for it.
All of the employees worked under Larry Braxton, who he had authority over and he had to only report to the manager of the plant and operations. On the other hand, The Vice President of Human
Resources was Joyce newcombe. Her responsibility was to forecast the number of employees that would be needed by the organization and to make sure that the demands were met by the right amount of supply and the right type who would be fit for the jobs and qualified enough.

The change in authority according to me that should be made is that the HR department should be more involved in handling and taking care of employees since they specialize in people. There should be someone from the HR department making sure employees are treated well by the superintendents and should have some authority over the superintendent to make sure hes following the rules and policies well. Regardless, the superintendents should be allowed to do their job but there should be someone just looking over them, so they take their jobs more seriously. They will also be able to ask for help in some of the more intense and important decisions related to employees or an employee if needed.
Furthermore, if employees are not satisfied with any of the superintendent 's decisions or anything relating to the job and are not comfortable by with their superintendents, they should have a way to communicate with the HR manager of the plant and seek his advice or help. This way they will also feel more comfortable and such incidents should reduce a lot.
