PHYSICS 1404 - Solar Astronomy
8 April, 2017 Pluto, New Horizons Mission

The new horizon mission one of the great missions of NASA. This mission started in 2006 on 19th January. The goal behind this mission was to understand about the Pluto and the formation of it. Beside this, another goal was known about the Kuiper belt, as well as the transformation of the Solar System in early age. During this mission the spacecraft on spaces will collect information and some data on the interiors, surfaces, atmospheres and environments of the plant and its moon around it. Also, in the Kuiper belt this spacecraft will study some objects. If I compare the data wound collected,

But takes about 15 months to come to the earth. The NASA said this data transfer process always will be slow. The NASA team said that the New Horizons can store as much as data and information about Pluto planet and its moon. From this mission the flyby process will last from the month September, 2018 through the January 2019. After that it will probably take 20 months to beam the flyby data to the home. About half of the flyby data and information has come from the New Horizons mission to the earth. NASA people believe that all of the data and information will be home by November month. This New Horizons will also gather information and data from Kuiper Belt objects and it will be looking for some ring around it from the year 2016 though the year 2020. From this spacecraft there will be study continue on some of the important things like gas, plasma and dust in the Kuiper belt.
Currently New Horizons mission spacecraft is heading to the next target, which is the object of Kuiper belt named 2014 MU69. It’ almost half way from this object, NASA said. If everything works fine without any problems they believe that the New Horizons will get there on January 1. From the last update the spacecraft is now 782.45 million kms away from the destination to 2014 MU69. It would be the record for the NASA to explore the most far-away world ever and will be a history of the civilization. This mission will help further generation to understand better and better knowledge about our solar

In January 2006, NASA launched the New Horizons probe on a mission to fly by Pluto. New Horizons is one of the fastest man-made objects ever launched, and is not scheduled to arrive at Pluto until July 2015. As of today, it takes about 9.5 years to travel from the Earth to Pluto. The distance from Earth to Pluto is not constant, but averages to 3.57 billion miles. The Space Shuttle orbits at 17,500 miles per hour. Therefore 205,000 hours or 8,500 days or 23 years 105 days.…

The article in New York Times talks about the spacecraft that was sent into space 36 years ago and recently NASA was able to send a newer version of it into space. Voyage 1 was initially designed as a four-year mission to Saturn. It is the first spacecraft to exit our solar system. This will help scientists to explore the outside of our solar system. Voyage 1 stopped sending pictures however; it helped scientists to attain pictures of Saturn and Jupiter. Voyage 2 will be able to send better pictures and scientists expect it to exit our solar system in a few years. NASA has high hopes for the new and improved Voyage 2. By improving a spacecraft they will be able to get better samples and images of other planets further than Saturn and Jupiter and maybe even see what's outside of the solar system. They made a prediction that it will pass some stars and will be pulled by their gravity. I found this article interesting because nobody has yet seen what the outside of our solar system is like. Maybe NASA will be able to state some groundbreaking news from the new pictures that they will attain.…

The Hubble telescope was set to orbit the Earth in April, 1990 and has acted as a rollercoaster of information. It has provided some major breakthroughs including the Hubble Ultra Deep Field, the age of the universe, and planets in our own solar system. In 2003 and 2004, scientists pointed the Hubble telescope into two parts of space that had no objects, just blackness (about the size of a grain of sand). This was an extreme risk of wasting the telescopes viewing power and time, but the result was incredible. This provided us with the furthest look into space we have ever seen and a glimpse at over 10,000 other galaxies in the universe just in those two looks (Nunes, 2012).…

Pluto is a dwarf planet orbiting the Sun, with about a sixth of the mass of the Moon and a third of its volume. Like other Kuiper belt objects, which are generally outside Neptune's orbit, Pluto is primarily rock and ice. It has an elongated and highly inclined orbit that takes it from 49 astronomical units (7.4 billion km) away from the Sun down to 30, closer than Neptune. Light from the Sun takes about 5.5 hours to reach it at its average distance. Since its discovery in 1930, it had been considered the ninth planet, but the International Astronomical Union came up with a new definition for planets in 2006 that excluded Pluto after many other similar icy objects were found, including Chiron and Eris. Pluto has five known moons: Charon (about…
