When you are drowning, you do not inhale any of the water until you pass out, and even then, the instinct to not let any water in is so strong that you feel like your head is exploding. Does not matter how strong you are, water eventually washes everything away, the good and the bad. Keep that in mind.
As the buzzer sounds, the game begins, and I go in for the tip-off. I seize the ball, with the realization that the game has just begun and I must act. I spot an opening and take it. I jump, trying to score, but my legs are taken out from under me, and I hit the floor. I hear a pop, and in an instant, I lose everything that made me who I am. I lost my play.

Basketball, painting, chess- it is all therapy. Stress is water in a bucket; too much, and you drown. These hobbies, however, function as a release for the water to empty that bucket. Losing that relief makes life infinitely harder. It affects grades, relationships, and even life. Now you may think that you should give up your play because of the time-consuming essence that is school, especially in Year 12, however, what I have come to realize is that giving up play is a fatal flaw that many succumb to. Play is more than a diversion from academic pursuits. It shapes character and commitment. Hold on to what makes you happy with everything you have. It plays a fundamental part in living a fulfilled life. I know I can say all of this and you may walk right out of here with ignorance, but please if you are going to remember something just remember these 3 words. Don’t give up on the idea. Don’t give up your play! Ever. I will be
