Police Brutality Speech
You're driving home on your way from work. When suddenly… You see red and blue lights, flickering in the distance. BANG!!! The sound of a gun fire attracts your attention. You look out your right window and see a dead black man lying on the floor with two white officers holding guns in their hands. Police brutality is unacceptable. Black teenagers shouldn’t be scared to drive their car or walk on the streets. NOBODY should be afraid of getting shot or brutally injured just for simple things like, speeding.

Police brutality occurs for many reasons. One of those reasons may be racism. In 2016, there have been seven hundred and eight documented deaths by police shootings. One hundred and ninety four of these deaths have resulted in being African-Americans. More than a hundred of these young males have been unarmed. The police are here to help and serve this country, not to randomly shoot at the first sign of trouble just because a person is black. African-Americans haven’t been the only ones being shot or brutally murdered. …show more content…
It's about 4:30 and your driving your kids home from school. You see a car being pulled over by the police. Should you have to tell your kids to look away? Or should you not make a big deal about it and move on? Police Brutality happens for many reasons. It might be because the cop is racist. Or it makes the cop feel powerful and superior to the victim. But those reasons don’t matter. The police are here to protect us. The police are here to serve us. The police are here to help us. The police are here to make us feel safe and confident. There needs to be police reform. Start with getting rid of the useless assault rifles that some states have. Then instead of just shooting anywhere, shoot at the arms or legs. (Or just get rid of guns altogether). And stop judging people. Just because they look threatening doesn’t mean you have to punch then to the ground. This is a major problem. Only we, as Americans can stop

    It is getting more and more popular especially to African Americans, and more specifically African American males. It is making the world and community a more dangerous place than it already is. It is making this society a very destructive and violent place. In order to stop the violence there has to be some leadership and control. As Dr. Martin Luther King Jr said, “Oppressed people cannot remain oppressed forever. The urge for freedom will eventually come” (5). Getting assaulted by a police officer should never be understood or viewed as okay. Although racism and discrimination may completely be gone, it can reduce if there were more leaders. Harmon argues that “defensive force justification defenses arise when individuals threaten interests that are weighty enough to justify protection” (1147). Harmon always justifies that “the common law connection between justification defenses and police use of force may not be surprising in light of the development of law enforcement in the country” (1149). In other words this means that when someone speaks out and decides to have a voice about needing protection they will not stop until they get what they need. In this case, they get all the resources they need in order to get justice. Police brutality is not right and is making this society weak.     In 2012 an underage teen named Trayvon Martin was fatally shot trying to go home from the store by a man named George Zimmerman. In 2011 twelve year old boy named Tamir Rice was shot by police for playing with a bebe gun outside. A girl named Aiyana Jones was shot by a policeman while she was sleeping on the couch during a home raid by police.
