Police brutality occurs for many reasons. One of those reasons may be racism. In 2016, there have been seven hundred and eight documented deaths by police shootings. One hundred and ninety four of these deaths have resulted in being African-Americans. More than a hundred of these young males have been unarmed. The police are here to help and serve this country, not to randomly shoot at the first sign of trouble just because a person is black. It's about 4:30 and your driving your kids home from school. You see a car being pulled over by the police. Should you have to tell your kids to look away? Or should you not make a big deal about it and move on? Police Brutality happens for many reasons. It might be because the cop is racist. Or it makes the cop feel powerful and superior to the victim. But those reasons don’t matter. The police are here to protect us. The police are here to serve us. The police are here to help us. The police are here to make us feel safe and confident. There needs to be police reform. Start with getting rid of the useless assault rifles that some states have. Then instead of just shooting anywhere, shoot at the arms or legs. (Or just get rid of guns altogether). And stop judging people. Just because they look threatening doesn’t mean you have to punch then to the ground. This is a major problem. Only we, as Americans can stop
