Police Militarization Essay
One main factor that can be traced through many militarization cases is the complex relationship between the police and the military (Chabat, Jorge, "Mexico's War" 135). Police subculture is one that is questioned with police brutality, use of excessive force in administering order, cover-ups for fellow police officers, corruption, and other unethical issues in the police system. An efficient police system would mean a flawless one, where there is no corruption or any form of misconduct where recruitment and training would all be fair. The police have time and time again been on the frontline for assault against a particular society, such as the black community who continually are being harassed by the law-enforcement. The moment a police officer swears the oath, he also commits himself to serve all of mankind, regardless of age, color, ethnicity, social status, or race.…

America is a very diverse place where people from all over the world choose to reside. With all of these different cultures blending together into one melting pot, we have to learn how to live with each other. For all these cultures to be able to dwell together, there needs to be order, rules, and guidelines established into the community. Without people that can fulfill those duties in a country there would be no kind of structure within the United States. The people who we count on to enforce these rules in the United States are the police. The citizens hold the police on a higher scale than regular civilians hold each other to. “Police in America are sworn to protect the citizens, however the last few years citizens been sickened by highly publicized accounts of public servants brutalizing men—and women—in the communities”. Police Brutality has been an uprising topic in the past years, because of the police having the overpower over many black citizens because of assumption of suspiciousness. Once the police feels threatened, they automatically shoot to protect themselves and then assume they did the right thing. Those who oppose the use of use of torture also claim that the laws of the United States protect those suspected of crimes by regulating police interrogation practices to prevent terrorism. However, the US regulations do not claim that if a police assumes that a person is suspicious of terrorism that they should be shot. Police now take advantage of this rule. The precise meaning for police is, “the civil force of a national or local government, responsible for the prevention and…

    Police Corruption Essay

Corruption establishes largely because of a police culture that exalts loyalty over integrity. Armao & Cornfeld (1994) suggest that honest officers are silenced by their fear of ``ratting'' on another cop no matter how grave the crime. Corruption is not uncommon for those officers who remain undercover; in fact, it is an easier gateway to fall custom to the "bad apples". Corruption as defined by Roebuck and Barker (1974) as any form of ‘deviant, dishonest, improper, unethical or criminal behavior by a police officer. Police departments take pride in their progressions or achievements, therefore in response to corruption, they avoid uncovering it. Grant (2002) goes on to maintain the fact that not only do the en-suing scandals embarrass the…

The use of force by law enforcement becomes necessary and is permitted under specific circumstances, such as in self-defense or in defense of another individual or group. (Peak, (2015). “Police killings are beginning to get out of control”, is what many people are saying. We shouldn’t have to say that, in fact, it shouldn’t be something that is happening in the first place. Whether it was justified, or not, things need to change. There are too many unjustified police shootings. Something needs to be done. We can’t just sit here, waiting for another shooting. Essay On Police Shooting

My opinion on police shootings is they are just trying to do their job. Their job is to protect the people and property which if it takes shooting someone that is not following the demands of the officer then that is what they should do. The research shows that most gunfights accrue at about three-six feet apart from the officer to the inflictor. Police have a job that could get them killed, so when they see someone reach in their pocket or for something they will be extremely aware because they cannot tell if the person is reaching for a gun or just a phone or wallet. There are other less lethal ways of trying to get the person to compromise, but there do not strike fear to them as if a gun was pulled on them sometimes fear is what helps in some cases.…
