they're doing wrong and allow to to make a change towards it. According to Susan Mizner, she says, “School resource officers should understand and expect that they will be called in, primarily, to interact with kids with disabilities because our school systems really haven’t learned how to accommodate those disabilities and to work productively with most of these kids”(Mitzer). When this occurs, the child is being shown that they have someone to go to while they are in school and get benefits from it. Not everyone in the school system are able to work with kids, but it is good to know that there is someone who can. On the other hand, police officers on the street objective is a little more complex. Their objective is to protect and serve the citizens, also to prevent and decrease criminal activity. This is a particular article that I do believe impacts the Criminal Justice system because cops need to recognize the difference of their training when it comes to an adult compared to a child.
You can't always treat a child like an adult because they aren't on that form of level yet. In the article it stated how Hill never understood how officers could have an effect on kids' lives until now. He said, “Especially in urban schools, kids are hard to reach,' he said. If they're not getting structure at home, they are going to continue to act out, even when confronted by an authority figure'”(Hill). Many kids react to certain things or situations based on how they were raised; therefore, you would have some that could be a bother where an officer would have to be forceful. In all respect, I believe officers could be forceful by influencing kids for the better. Overall, if school police were trained in the right way instead of assuming they deserve the wrong punishment, then you would find more students to have trust in
them.
