This summer, I was fortunate enough to get an internship on a local U.S. Congress campaign. I live in the Pennsylvania 8th district and worked on the campaign of Kathy Boockvar, Democratic challenger to Republican incumbent Mike Fitzpatrick. I was able to meet many interesting people and clarify my own political ideals, but most importantly I got to learn about campaigns and the election process.…
I have never heard of this policy. I use to be the Corps Officers assistant just two years ago. I was the one who processes their FAPAC payment reimbursement and there was no such policy as this. When did this policy start? What years and time. I am not disputing anything, but I did not see such a policy in the FAPAC agreements when I was signing up. Furthermore, such a policy was never explained to me, that after I become an officer this is the policy. If there was such a policy, it should have been documented at first hand and when problems like what happen to me arise, there would have been no question asked. I am really disappointed to know this after the fact.…
Members of Congress serve dual roles. On the one hand, they are law and policy makers, and on the other, they represent the needs and best interests of their particular constituents. These duties are often at odds. Public cynicism about the institution is also nudged along by negative media coverage and the fact that people are often uninformed about what Congress does how it does it, and the constraints under which it operates. Citizens also tend to hold Congress to very high standards and that further contributes to cynicism about the institution when they do not live up to those expectations.…

Abortion rights supporters breathed a collective sigh of relief as the fate of Roe quite literally rested on the result of this election. Several supreme courts vacancies are anticipated along the way which the president nominating those who can uphold the law which he supported. The harsh regulation climate is taking a big toll even now that abortions are now legal. In order to prevent this, in a short amount of time the abortion rights community will no doubt have to keep up the efforts with abortion assistance funding that pay for the abortions but for the money that is sent to a facility. In the long run, the only route to address differences between poor people and the rich people is for abortion to become normal in the mainstream of reproductive health care.…
Let me start by saying the object of the Republicans in 2013 is reform, or a reform of a reform. We are aiming to right what we believe are the wrongs of the Democrats and fix things in dire need of repair/revamping.…
When examining the role of the government in situations of participation in political processes, the role as the protector of rights and privileges as identified in the Constitution must be weighed against its role as a regulator of the political process. A primary principle of the First Amendment is to protect and encourage the rights of individuals and organizations to participate in our civic process (Federal Campaign Finance Law). This right to be involved in the political system is an important privilege and should not be taken lightly. Any campaign finance reform must be structured within the framework of the Constitution.…

The Congressional hearing is another step to punishing the company for breaking laws. Planned Parenthood is altering their abortion techniques to get better organs, for example in a way that the heart would still be beating or fully functioning. Doing so may profit them, but could potentially harm the mother of the unborn fetus. This is pro-choice because it is defending the mother against harmful techniques to fulfill her wish to rid of the baby. The Congressional hearing isn’t being used to put a stop to the abortion clinic completely but rather punish Planned Parenthood for violating federal laws. Another piece of evidence about the community being pro-choice is the way the quotes from employees of Planned Parenthood are used. For example, Planned Parenthood’s Dr. Savita Ginde stated, “We don’t want to do just a flat-fee per baby of like, $200. A per-item thing works a little better, just because we can see how much we can get out of it”. The usage of this quote makes the reader feel disgusted towards Planned Parenthood for trying to make such a large profit on the sales of aborted babies, thus trying to persuade the…

Some actions the NRLC take to influence policy and public agenda are playing a big role in state and federal legislation regulating and restricting abortion, and has been instrumental in restricting government funding of abortions to poor women. They have a Political Action Committee that endorses and campaigns for candidates who support its agenda, which include opposition to some forms of Birth Control as well as physician-assisted suicide. The NRLC has more than 7 million members, with 3,000 local chapters and 50 state affiliates. It is headquartered in Washington, D.C and has annual budgets of more than 9 million. This interest group has lobbied for federal legislation banning partial-birth abortions. This act remained the highest priority of the NRLC, which has helped secure state legislation banning the abortion procedure in 17 states. They operate four outreach programs; National Teens for Life, American Victims of Abortion, National Pro-Life Religious Council, and Black Americans for Life.…
This paper will discuss what interest groups are and the role that interest groups play in American politics and why it is important. Another thing that this paper will discuss is how interest groups have influenced American elections. American elections have been influenced with direct and indirect strategies to get a candidate elected. They have also been influenced wit the use of information. The direct strategies used where more in your face and out for everyone else to know about and where very effective. While the indirect strategies used may have been hidden and in the shadows they were also effective. The use of information was helpful to put things out into the world and it was also there to help the candidate that was being supported by the interest group gain popularity and/or publicity. Towards the end of the paper the role of interest groups and how they have influenced American elections should be understood.…
