Ixta was the kings daughter and the king wouldn't let her marry and Popo was a noble warrior. One day the king fell ill and needed the warriors to fight off the enemies and whoever was the most successful could marry the kings daughter. As you might expect Popo went off to fight but 3 jealous warriors said Popo had died. This made Ixta very upset and she became ill from sadness and died. When popo arrived back home (alive) he wished to marry Ixta but when he found out why she died popo hunted down the lier’s and killed them. Then Popo took the thrown.
Both these stories took place in Tenochtitlan telling how the city was protected. In Tenochtitlan they yelled what kind of defenses where built into the city. In the story of Popocatepetl and Ixtaccihuatl it told of a noble warrior who protected his city to marry the one he loved. These stories intertwine because Popo was trying to protect the city of Tenochtitlan.
The main difference is that one story is about and entire story and the other is about the fight to marry a girl who died at the end. The other important difference is that a city can’t go on an adventure like Popo, and a city doesn't feel love because it’s
