Portion Distortion
Would you be super-sizing that today is herd in almost every fast food restaurant today.
Its not just the consumers that should be blamed for obsetity the food companies are to be blamed as well. They have made portion sizes misleading and confusing to read for Americans.
They have with held vital information about health effects of their food. In “It’s Portion Distortion That Make America Fat” by Brownlee states “Make no mistake: when they do well economically, we gain weight.” She makes these claims because as companies make profit off the people we tend to put weight on. These companies can afford to make the food cheaper because it will cause people to go in a frenzy making it easier for them to earn money. Taco Bell
CEO John Martin used so-called “smart research” to find his loyal customers who mostly young males, who came in more than 20 times a month to the restaurant. John says “These guys ate at fast-food because they had no interest in cooking for themselves and didn’t care about a healthy lifestyle. These people didn’t care about taste just because it was fast and cheap it was good enough for them. People don’t realize it’s better to cook for yourself than to eat out at least you know whats in your food and how it was made. As fast food companies quickly learned cheaper food men’t bigger profits they followed suit companies from Burger King to Wendy’s was slashing prices. “In other words, cheap food induced people to eat more. These bargain deals lead people to buy more of the product which lead to weight gain. Bargain seeking Americans looked for the cheapest and biggest deals these companies had to offer. You would think if people know whats in the food, and the health effects they wouldn’t eat anymore but as we know today this isn’t true.
