Quebec is using far more than what they are earning and we need to deal with it. On the Department of Finance Canada page is says that in 2015-2016 all provinces and territories will receive $68.013 billion dollars in transfer payments. It also says that Quebec will be taking a the most with a whopping $20.348 billion (⅓ of Total) which is $100 million more than Ontario at $20.445 billion. This is a major problem because I means that Quebec is using money that can be used on other important things. On the pages of statistics canada it shows that in 2015 Quebec's Gross domestic product at 380 972 million and was ⅕ of the total at 1,986,193 while Ontario's was over double that amount. This is very bad for Canada’s economy because it means that Quebec is using a higher amount of money then they are spending. The answer is to get Quebec to slowly lower their amount of money from transfer payments. By slowly …show more content…
lowering the transfer payments it allows people to adapt to the economy. That should make the percentage of money earned and used more balanced.
Another problem is that the citizens of Quebec are insecure about being a part of confederation.
Many Quebec citizens think that they are too different than the rest of Canada and that their french culture is being assimilated. In June/12/1995 a vote was put up to see if Quebec wanted to leave confederation or not 93.52% of registered Quebecers voted 50.58% voted no and 49.42% voted yes. That means that the citizens are uncertain about separating from confederation. The answer is to convince Quebecers to stay by doing so we need to show them that we can prevent the assimilation of their french culture and that they are not different by showing our similarities. That's how we can fix the problem with Quebecers
securities.
Those are some of the problems with Quebec that can be fixed. The fact that they are getting a large amount of Canadas total transfer payments can be lowered. That they shouldn't be afraid of Canada and the other provinces. With these changes we can make a greater better Canada and help Quebec deal with their problems.
