Dear Sir/Madame I am a student from western Sydney University I am one of the people from suffering from asthma and I think that we should do something about air quality. Air quality can generally affect our health and wellbeing. The key that environmentally issues which Australia is currently facing is reversing the degradation of our ambient outdoor and indoor.
Argue 1-in nice days in Sydney we can’t take a breath if the air in the inner city can be cleaner than taking a breath in the suburban areas. For the past 15 years Sydney’s nuclear science had arranged that the city’s air quality has to surround the particular focus on the tiny aerosols that cannot be seen. During this year 2.1 million people had died prematurely each year because of fine particle pollution there have been more deaths caused by cardiopulmonary and as will as lung cancer disease. The main reasons for these sources are wood fire smoke, diesel vehicle exhaust and coal fired station emission.
Argue2-air pollution has an impact on human environment the main components of Sydney’s pollution is smoke, sea salt spray, soil and secondary sulphate. In winter the wood fire that had been burning was responsible for up to 80% of pollution in the western suburbs including Richmond and Liverpool. 20 years ago Sydney’s air was much cleaner during that time because leaded petrol had been phased out. The health impacts depend on the fine particle in the air and how long a person was exposed.
Argue3- the state and federal government do not have compulsory limits on fine particle pollution only advisory levels. Low pollution countries such as Australia, atmospheric fine particle can impact on human. Fine particles were dangerous because they could penetrate deep into the airway which it will have access to the bloodstream. The tighter emissions standard for wood heaters, non-road diesels and small spark ignition

The purpose of this letter is to inform you of the amount of air particulate matter in our lovely town of Edenton, NC. Air particulate matter is a type of pollution that comes from farms, cars and industries. It occurs when dangerous chemicals are released into the air. This type of pollutant is invisible, but can be harmful to our health if present in the air. For my biology class, we had to conduct an experiment to find out if and how much particulate air pollution we had in our individual communities. To start my experiment, I took a coffee filter and applied Vaseline to it. This coffee filter was hung up outside to trap any particulate matter that was present in the air. Over the next four weeks, I observed the changes that took place. The first few weeks there was little change, but in the third and fourth week, I noticed some small black spots on the filter. This filter showed that Edenton had some Inhalable coarse particles. These types of particles can be inhaled in the lungs and can cause breathing problems. Even though there was some very small evidence of particulate air pollution in our town, we do not have the major industries that contribute to the higher levels of particulate pollution. Most of Edenton’s air particulate pollution comes from the farming and cars emitting gas. What does concern me, is the amount of gas stations Edenton has. I counted six gas stations in a two mile radius. This cannot be good for our community’s environment. The gases that are given off by these gas stations can eventually become a major problem for our lovely town. Are all of these gas stations necessary? As a community, we need to look toward our town’s future and providing a healthy environment for our children to grow up in. Besides the amount of gas stations in our town, over all, I would have to say that we, as Edentonians, can breathe a little easier knowing our town is not contaminated with harsh harmful air particulate pollutants.…

Humans are exposed to a number of pollutants , air toxics and particulate matter in the air we breathe and live in. A number of organisations have worked on standards that identify those levels that are safe and those that are not and how these impact on a human’s well being. Pollutants are substances which at high enough levels can cause harm to people and the environment (including plants and animals). Things like sulphur dioxide is from coal, oil burning power stations, mineral ore processing and chemical manufacture. With Sulfur dioxide health issues like the throat and lungs are attacked. People with breathing problems can suffer severe illness. Nitrogen dioxide Is caused from fuel combustion. The…

The average person breathes about three thousand gallons of air per day. Imagine if that air was dirty? Most of us aren’t even aware of how polluted the air is and how unhealthy it can be for the average person to breathe it in. It can make breathing difficult for some people and it affects all living things. Air pollution is a major problem in the world today. In order to understand how air pollution affects our body, you must understand exactly what this pollution is. The pollutants that harm our respiratory system are known as particulates. Particulates are the small solid particles that you can see through a ray of sunlight. They are products of incomplete combustion in engines (example: automobile engines), road dust, and wood smoke. Billions of tons of coal and oil are consumed around the world every year.…

What makes the topic of air pollution such a sensitive one is that unlike other forms of pollution, for example water pollution, it cannot just simply be cleaned up. Measures can be put in place to minimise the volume of harmful emissions, but once out there, nothing can be done to get the quality of air back to its original state. Added to this is the fact that air pollution can have adverse short-term and long-term health effects on individuals, as well as, destroy the environment. According to the State of the Environment Report 2000........ “Most of these compounds affect human health and many target the respiratory tract. Other affected organs/ systems include the oxygen-carrying capacity of the blood, the nervous system, kidneys, cardiovascular and reproductive systems and the numerous other toxic…

Smog is a major cause of air pollution and humans are the ones who are causing it. Smog is produced from many different things. The atmospheric pollutants or gases that form smog are released in the air when fuels are burnt. When sunlight and its heat react with these gases and fine particles in the atmosphere, smog is formed. It’s usually a yellowish or blackish fog that consists of fine particles and ground level ozone. Smog occurrences are linked to many things such as heavy traffic, high temperatures, automobile exhaust, power plants and factories. It is surprisingly also caused by many consumer products such as hairspray, charcoal starter fluid, chemical solvents and plastic popcorn packaging. Although it is humans who are causing the smog it is humans who are being affected with major health issues. Smog is very harmful to both the respiratory and circulatory system. It can irritate many parts of the body and when it is inhaled it can dry out and inflame the protective membranes of the nose and throat. It aggravates heart problems, bronchitis, asthma and other lung problems. The human body has difficulty defending itself against the harms of smog. It can cause illnesses such as colds and pneumonia.…
