The water we use today is the same water the dinosaurs used. We cannot create new water. For millions of years, the water we have has been used and reused. This has been possible because of the natural cycles that clean the water each time we use it.
Because of this, it our duty to keep the water clean for future generations to come. Sadly many businesses and industries dump their wastes into rivers, lakes and the sea. Heavy medals from industries dissolve in nearby lakes and rivers which is toxic to marine life.
Organic matter and nutrients thrown in the water increase the amount of algae which reduces the amount of oxygen from the water column which is called eutrophication and cause the suffocation of fish and other aquatic organisms.
The amount of waste particles suspended in water reduce the amount of sunlight received into the water which disrupts the growth of photosynthetic plants and microorganisms which affects the rest of the marine life who depend on the microorganisms.
Industries are not the only culprits for water pollution. Unfortunately, everyone who drives a care is polluting the water because of the oil that leaks onto the road and is eventually washed into the water cycle. This means most people are guilty of polluting our precious water.
Pollution
Air
Air pollution makes it more difficult for us to breathe, increasing the dangers for people with asthma and respiratory problems. It is probably causing the earth to become warmer, which will affect our climate. It even pollutes the water. The major air pollutants are Carbon Dioxide, Methane and Water Vapor.
What is the solution to this problem? Find alternatives to the burning of fossil fuels for transportation and electricity, buy used stuff or make your own instead of buying new stuff, grow your own food, conserve electricity and water, plant native plants that only require rain and no extra watering, think outside the box!
