| | RationaleThe HCT attendance policy stresses the importance of students participating fully in all learning activities and prepares students for the standards of attendance and commitment required in employment as laid out in the Academic and Student Regulations. | | | | A. Policy Stipulations: | Policy 1. As part of the requirement that students of the System of the Higher Colleges of Technology shall meet the highest standards in their conduct and academic work, students are expected to attend all classes for the courses in which they are registered and they are also expected to participate fully in all learning and activities. 2. Attendance in a course is counted from the student's date of first registration. 3. Students are expected to arrive on time, remain for the entire period and be prepared and fully equipped for the activities of their classes. 4. HCT Colleges will develop procedures to ensure equity of implementation and apply common attendance requirements. 5. Procedures shall include steps to ensure that: a. Absences or failures to fully participate are permissible only for extenuating circumstances, b. Disciplinary actions are taken against students who fail to attend or fail to participate fully for unacceptable reasons or in excess of ten percent of a course. | | | | | | HCT Attendance ProceduresThe following information is available on the HCT portal:
