Practice Improvement Plan
This dissertation compiles an area within children’s nursing which could potentially be improved, also known as the Practice Improvement Plan (PIP). The PIP will be based around a research proposal to explore a concept to improve the standard of care in which the patient and their family receive. By completing a PIP, it will clearly identify a key area within a setting that could be improved, which in effect develops the care delivery by the health professionals (Gilsenan, 2011). The idea chosen will need to be thoroughly analysed to clearly understand how it can improve the care being received, how it will be appropriate in children's nursing, how it will be manageable and feasible by the health professionals, and if the service users will

A brief explanation of what each chapter will consist of is discussed below. The background chapter will explore in thorough detail, relevant information linking to the topic to help justify what the PIP will relate to. The improvement chapter will demonstrate in depth what the improvement is, including how the idea would work, justifying with appropriate and reliable literature. Outlining the research methods proposed on planning and explaining why and how they will be used is the next chapter. The implementation of the PIP will need to be expanded on in depth to ensure clear reasoning for its effectiveness. Exploring the ethical issues will also need to be considered to allow the toolkit to be suitable for a range of service users. As this PIP is a proposed plan, no primary data can be collected, however, it is necessary to explain how results would be presented, using graphs and tables, known as the data analysis and presentation of the results. Once all the necessary research has been analysed, the dissemination will be explained which is how collection of data will be distributed. A GANTT chart will be developed to set out key milestones that need to be completed when implementing this PIP. This GANTT chart will need to be realistic to enable the PIP is completed within an achievable time scale. Lastly, the list of references and appendices will be indicated at the bottom showing all the reliable and up-to-date sources used to justify the chapters, these will include books, websites, articles and
