What is really important to you in life? We're getting at core values here... think about your creative motivations and the mapping exercise we did this week to help with this question. Write down three and why they are important.
OK, now (a) what are you really good at, and (b) what skills do you have aptitude/potential for? List at least two of each.
Right now, what are you considering as a career/ careers? If you're uncertain, put in a number of options, or a general field that you're interested in (it doesn't have to be creative if you don't want).
At this moment, with my limited knowledge of the entertainment industry as a whole, I am considering a role as a producer for T.V and films, although, this may change as I progress with my studies. …show more content…
On a scale of 1 to 10 (with 10 being “this is the thing I want to do for ever”, and 1 being “I have no idea what I’m doing”), how confident about that career path are you?
What is interesting / what do you value about the career or careers you just wrote about?
In the case of producing for T.V and films, I am interested in having a hand in each of the phases of the development: pre-production, production, and post-production. I am also intrigued by the finacial aspect of the producer role, such as making sure that the project sticks within a designated budget.
Find three facts about the career/s you just mentioned in the previous question – and make sure to write down where and how you found them!
- Producers supervise the entire production process from first draft scrips to a completed
project.[1]
- Producers are also responsible for making sure that the projects stay on schedule, as well as making sure that the costs stay within the budget.[1]
- According to Screen Australia (Screenaustralia.gov.au, 2016) the Australian film industry spent $837 million for the production of all of the feature films and T.V dramas in 2014/2015. [2]
