The amount of racism at this time does not surprise me at all. Part of is that this was during that time that racism took place. This true story took place when black and white TV was around. Racism and the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) is still around, but not as acceptable. The college did not like being a colored school, and being called Negros. Also, another thing that happened during that time that would most likely not happen now is that while staying in a hotel the African American boy’s rooms got broken in to. Not only did they break in to the room, but they also put blood all over the walls.

I also learned that the racism back then was accepted, but would not be accepted today. If a person breaks in to a room and puts blood on the walls back then they would probably not have gotten in to trouble, but if someone did that to day for the same race, that person might probably go to jail for a short period of time. This is just a 50 year time span from the time it happened, till current time today. Even though it is only a 50 year difference racism still happens to day, but not as much as it did back
