As shown with the wiretapping, Nixon was quite paranoid. For this reason alone, very few people had access to him and he kept a tiny circle of people he trusted. However, the people he trusted, he may have not actually really trusted them. Nixon put a tape recorder in his office in order to record everything that was said. Little did Nixon know, that during the Watergate Scandal, “Nixon’s secret tapes” would ultimately end his power as President of the United States.
The Watergate Scandal which occurred in the 1970’s was a national case. The Watergate Scandal started on June 17.1972 when the “Plumbers” burglarized the Watergate Headquarters. The Plumbers were found to be part of the government which lead to the connection with Nixon. Many of the men involved directly and indirectly were convicted and tried against a court of judges. One the main persons who was tried was John Dean.
