The preteens are the fifth and sixth graders at my church on Wednesdays they have different groups they break out in such as drama, tech team, recreation, missions, worship, and a few others. The team I have had the opportunity to work with is the creative ministries team. The creative ministries team is literally almost anything you can do to show Jesus to other people through a performance except for using words.
How I ended up working with the preteens is really almost a coming of age story in and of itself. On Wednesday nights I go to church. For students my age you would normally go upstairs and go to what we call Verge which is like a worship time for seventh through twelfth grade. At the time I did not like to go to Verge and I was not getting anything out of that time. So I would hang out downstairs where the children's and preteen ministries are located. This year Teri is not doing creative ministries and I told the person in charge that i would like to keep working with the preteens as long as I was not doing it solo. So I am working with someone else this year.
I have learned so much through the opportunity I have been given to work with the preteens. I have become a lot less shy and less socially awkward, even though i would still say that I am a little bit, and I have learned that even though I am introverted I can still work with other people that are not introverts and that I can be loud if I need to be.
