Personal Narrative: Religion Teacher With Katelyn Malizewski
Every group, club, and sport that I am a part of has shaped me into the human that I am today. Throughout my life, I have participated in several extracurriculars and adventures. While some have been a flop, others have pushed me out of my comfort zone and added different dimensions to me. As I have grown, my soul has evolved to be quite happy, selfless, and spontaneous. These are characteristics that can be attributed to some very special groups that I have made a part of.
As my love of kids kicked in, I became a religion teacher with Katelyn Malizewski in August of 2016. My crazy class of enthusiastic learners about Christ always brings happiness to my heart, like a good belly rub to a dog. The class of nine is comprised of mainly kindergarteners

Sometimes getting hit by a pitch, laying down a sacrifice bunt, getting in a tight pickle, and walking a batter are things that don’t look good on paper — could even hinder the chance of getting a scholarship — but are what the team needs at the time. Off the field, selflessness can translate into being the bigger person. Being the bigger person consists of growing up and being mature, such as: biting my tongue when someone says something I don’t agree with, not interjecting on someone when I know they are putting their own spin on the truth, and just dealing with people I’m not particularly fond of. Even doing a favor or task for someone else when it’s not the most convenient for myself, or giving up my own happiness for another’s are examples of maturity and …show more content…
They are like my favorite tie blanket, and comparable to beating Rebecca Sletten in steps on FitBit. They make my days so good, and fill my nights with more adventure than the Backyardigans could ever imagine. They are the definition of spontaneous, which is one of my most favorite things in life. Without them I’d be going to bed before four in the morning, and would yet to have lost my Buffalo Wild Wings virginity. One could call us stupid teenagers, as we are comparable to those seen in the movies who have their feet on the dashboard, hands out the windows, good music blaring, and slushies in an arm's reach going down some curvy road in the wee hours of the morning. I have a very rare and special group of people who love to take good pictures, race complete strangers, and nearly drown in their own tears while laughing. My brain has jumped from desiring spontaneous moments to constantly looking for

On May 12, 2017 I interviewed Lisa Newman about what it means to be an American to her. One time when I challenged my own beliefs, I questioned my own skills. It was one of the most crushing and confusing moments of my life. I was indecisive, hesitant, and most certainly doubtful. I couldn’t even imagine myself, an inexperienced sophomore, working in a career major that I’ve never even thought of doing in the first place.…

“I attract a crowd, not because I’m an extrovert, or I’m over the top, or I’m oozing with charisma. It’s because I care.” (Gary Vaynerchuk). This quote closely resembles one of the qualities of a liberally educated person, “They nurture and empower the people around them.” One excellent example of this is the sense of community at Mount Saint Charles Academy.…

My mom and I sat in silence as I reminisced about my experience. The day had started with me needing to finish one of my numerous yearbook assignments. The usual assignment was going to the football game to take pictures, but this weekend I had to visit the local museum to finish my page. This page needed historical pictures from one of my town’s popular events, the square-dancing revue. Square-dancing has been in Lamar for close to one hundred years and my yearbook page was focusing on the history of it. Most to all of these historical pictures belonged to the museum. I was prepared to be bored out of my mind while taking the pictures, but I wanted an A in the class, so I willed myself to go. I walked up to the building, put on my most believable fake smile, and told myself just to get the job done already. I pulled open the extremely heavy door and quietly snuck up the stairs to the main floor. At this point I was prepared for an overly peppy woman to pop out from nowhere and bombard me with multiple questions about why I was there, instead I found two women reading 1950’s newspapers while drinking coffee. Once they noticed my presence I told them the basics of…

At a young age, I waited on the benches for my mother to retrieve me from carpool. I observed my peers laughing together as they walked towards the gym for after-school sports. My mother, who soon arrived to find her kindergarten son sitting in solitude, scheduled numerous parent-teacher conferences. She would share her concerns while my teachers assured her that my "individuality" was what attracted friends to me. I had been a leader rather than a follower regardless of the opinion of others, and, to this day, that has remained static. I have evolved from that careless kindergarten leader, to an aspiring college graduate.…

During the year of 2010, the summer before eighth grade year. My first memory involving religion of any kind is when my grandmother was my temporary Sunday school teacher. This memory had absolutely nothing to do with reading the bible or praying or doing anything of that sort. I have no idea why I remember it either. The memory is of about four other kids and me sitting around the Sunday school table while my grandma sang a song about our ancestry and how it didn’t start with monkeys. The song went like this “I’m no kin to the monkey, the monkey’s no kin to me. I don’t know much about his ancestors but mine didn’t swing from a tree!” And it continued to repeat just like that. I will always remember this no matter what. Even now I can remember the exact flow of the song and the sound of my grandma’s voice.…

I just wanted to touch base because my dad and I have been talking and have come to the conclusion that we both feel that I've never really been able to voice my reasoning for doing what I did and, if I was give the opportunity it was given to me in a very stressful time. As I'm sure you know I was made the section leader of my band's alto saxophone section and a part of that responsibility was leading small group rehearsals, getting people to work, and things like that. Brandon was a member of my section and didn't make that job easy. He always seemed to find a way to make it difficult to lead a rehearsal whether it be goofing around, talking to other people, or not playing the piece of music that we were trying to practice it always…

Whether I am doing a lab in my AP Biology class or spearheading a fundraiser for the Varsity Golf Team, I exemplify the four pillars of the National Honors Society. As an avid golfer who plays competitive tournaments, I know that character is one of the most important traits someone can have. Golf taught me to always have integrity and to do the right thing when people aren’t always looking. In school, I display character by always being positive and honest towards everyone I meet. I am also open to change. I exhibit scholarship everyday by coming to class prepared and ready to learn. I never back down from a challenge, which is proven by my rigorous schedule of Honors classes, AP courses, and extracurricular activities. I try my best in everything…
