In response to these incidents, a common thing for lots of people to do is to point their fingers at gun manufacturers. In the wake of the Sandy Hook shooting that took place on December 14, 2012, parents of the victims decided to sue the Bushmaster company because they produced the Armalite Rifle (AR-15) that Adam Lanza used to commit the massacre. Many politicians are pushing for another assault weapon ban that was enacted in 1994. However, according to the FBI, this ban had very limited effect on crime, not to mention, during the time that the ban was taking place, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold committed the Columbine Massacre where they murdered fifteen students and faculty. So, what exactly did this ban do? Well, the legislation prohibited mostly cosmetic features on a rifle, such as, a pistol grip, muzzle device, bayonet lugs and a collapsable stock. All of these features constituted an assault weapon. Concealed carry is when you carry a concealed firearm. Simple. It is a right for somebody to be able to defend themselves in any way that they seem fit. Guns are an equalizer and a combat multiplier, if used correctly, the smallest, most petite person could get on the same level as a human tank. As great as this is, each state varies on the availability of a Concealed Carry Weapon (CCW) license. Shall Issue, May Issue and Unregulated are the three categories of Concealed Carry Permits. In Shall Issue states that a permit or license is required to carry. Applicants must also meet certain, well defined criteria. Unlike a May Issue state, there is no prejudice or discretion, which would compel the figure in charge of issuing the license to issue it. A may issue state of course requires a permit to carry, however, the probability that it will be issued is at the discretion of the local authorities. Therefore, likelihood can range greatly depending on where you are. A common misconception is that a firearm at home is more likely to hurt you or a loved one, not to mention, CCW licenses are becoming more popular. According to The Crime Prevention Research Center, in 2015 alone, 1.7 Million people were issued new concealed carry permits. That is a 15.4% increase in only one year. With that said, 5.2% of the total U.S. Population are CCW holders. Since 2007, CCW permits for females increased 270% and 156% for males! This
