If a player is caught with drugs in their system more than likely they are fined and suspended for a particular time. For example, O.J. Mayo who plays for the Milwaukee Bucks in the NBA was dismissed and disqualified from the NBA for violation of the terms of the NBA/NBPA Anti-Drug Program. Mayo would be eligible to apply for reinstatement in two years under the Anti-Drug Program. Mayo was interviewed by TMZ stating “I’m appealing drug suspension...I’ll be back soon” which seems like Mayo is not taking the ordeal termination seriously. In fact, O.J. Mayo wasn’t the only player in the NBA to be suspended due to drugs and who also didn’t take it seriously. The last player in the NBA to receive a drug ban was Chris Andersen in 2006. He returned to league in March of 2008. Athletes who are younger tend to do more dangerous stuff than athletes who are older and wiser. In my opinion I feel like if a player is found to have drugs in his system then he shouldn’t be able to play at all and all their records should be wiped
