Many athletes that have low punishments the first time are more likely to do it again than others. If the punishment were to be intensified they would never think of doing it again. An example would be Josh Gordon, football player who was punished 10 games and did it again, this time a whole season, and after that he went into therapy. He lost a lot of fans after his mistakes because fans like the creativity and the abilities to make the game better within their limits, and when drugs are involved it shapes the limits in a bad way (Rothman 5).
Overall, I proved that drugs are a huge problem in sports today and need to be eliminated. In order to do that, we need to intensify the punishments for violating the drug policy because of all the damage drugs do to the game, athlete, and so the athlete or athletes can learn their lesson.
