Mother Teresa, one of the most highly looked upon woman once said, “Abortion kills twice. It kills the body of the baby and it kills the conscience of the mother.” If so many people cherish this very respected woman, why do they continue to believe abortion is allowable? Abortion is the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy. In 1973 the case of Roe v. Wade legalized abortion throughout the country. There have come to be two sides known as Pro-Life and Pro-Choice. Pro-Life people are against abortion and believe life begins at conception, while those who are Pro-Choice believe it is the woman’s body and they have the right to make the decision of what they want to do (Head). Although many believe abortion should be legal in the case of incest and rape, we as humans should not have the decision to decide if an unborn child gets the right to live or not. Abortion should be illegal because it is the killing of unborn children and the parents will suffer from many psychological disorders afterwards. …show more content…
Life begins the moment the sperm enters an egg. Landrum B. Shettles who has his Ph.D. in biology said, “The zygote is human life….there is one fact that no one can deny; Human beings begin at conception.” Murder is defined as the unlawful premeditated killing of one human being by another. From this example, it should be clear that abortion should be classified as murder because you are making the choice to kill a life inside you. All in all, abortion should be illegal because it is

In the article, “New Pro- Choice Argument Reveals the Need for a New Pro- Life Message” the author, Ardee Coolidge indicates that there needs to be a change to the pro- life debate arguments. To strengthen the pro- life argument the first is to change its name to, “pro- abundant life.” Next is by understanding the four new stances for this argument. The first stance being marriage, raising a child with two parents is the most conducive environment for the abundant life. The second stance is Fatherhood, in the article it claims that the father is the most influential factor when deciding to get an abortion, nonetheless there should be more focus on the father's. The third stance is Christ, Christ is the only one who is able to transform hearts.…

Abortion is a topic that has always been very controversial. Going back in times the law has changed from abortions being legal, to illegal in 1828, to legal again in 1973. However not all people agree with this. Some believe that an abortion is murder while others do not. This is where the question of when life begins comes into play. If you want to look at it from most religious aspects, people will say that life begins at conception, while others say that life does not begin until birth. The law has been one of the many who cannot decide when life begins and if abortion is murder or not.…

Abortion is a very hot topic these days, where some people support pro-life and others support pro-choice. Pro-life applies that one lives a true sanctimonious life, which is basically saying that would should not kill any living being, not either bacteria and bugs. Other theory is pro-choice, where a decision about abortion cannot be controlled by government and every human has a chance to choose. This is a controversial topic because of the question of the moral status of the fetus and that the fetus has a right to life.…

Every new life begins at conception. This is an irrefutable fact of biology. It is true for animals and true for humans. When considered alongside the law of biogenesis – that every species reproduces after its own kind – we can draw only one conclusion in regard to abortion. No matter what the circumstances of conception, no matter how far along in the pregnancy, abortion always ends the life of an individual human being. Every honest abortion advocate concedes this simple fact.…

    Pro-Life/Pro-Choice

I am aware that this may be an uncomfortable topic for most people, you could even say a down right hostel conversation to have if you don’t share the same views. I have met people who are either pro-choice or pro-life and while neither group are bad people, I’ve found that neither group is fully informed of the others views and facts. I feel that pro-life is the best decision to make although I do understand the pro-choice position. My feelings and thoughts come from a very personal story. My own mother could have very well made the pro-choice decision and aborted me. It would have really made since to, being that her and my father had broken up, she already had two other children, and she was ten years my father’s elder. I can’t say that if some women had been in that situation they would have made the same choice. With those kinds of conditions the odds were stacked against me. But as you can see she believed that pro-life was the only way for her to go. I asked her when I became an adult why she made that decision, although I thought I already knew what her answer would be (religion), she surprised me by saying that she couldn’t kill an innocent person because of the choices she made. Those made me really want to dig into this subject because up until then I would have said that I was pro-choice. As simple as that story may sound, it helped me shape my views on the pro-life/pro-choice debate. The other things that helped were some facts. I would like to share some with you. The basic argument is Pro-choice believes abortion is a right that should not be limited by the government or religious authority, and that pregnant women will resort to unsafe abortions if there are no other options. While Pro-life believes that life starts at conception, therefore abortion is immoral killing of innocent human beings and it is unfair to allow abortions when couples who cannot biologically conceive are waiting to adopt. On the…

    Pro-Choice of Abortion

Nearly all abortions take place within the first trimester of the pregnancy. Within that time, the fetus cannot exist outside of the mother’s tummy. It is attached by the umbilical cord, and therefore depends on the mother’s health for survival. If it cannot survive on its own, the fetus is technically not a person yet, and being a living person is very different from the concept of human life…

What is Pro-Choice? Pro-Choice refers to the belief that a woman has the right to abort a baby from her body. Most people do not know how they stand on this subject. Usually a touchy subject, it is often kept a secret. I did extensive research on this subject after my older sister got an abortion. At first I was upset by the fact that she did it but now I realize that it was her choice and not mine. I feel that a woman has the right to do what she wants to her body. If a woman does not feel that she can raise a child then she should be able to do whatever she wants. If a woman gets an abortion in a case where she cannot raise the child then that is one less child put into foster care. During this speech I will inform you of the background on abortion, the different types of abortion, and also the main reasons to be pro-choice.…

Abortion is a term used for the termination of the pregnancy by removing of the embryo or the fetus from the uterus of a woman. The abortion takes place in two ways. It can be induced abortion or it can be spontaneous abortion. In the induced abortion, the pregnancy is aborted intentionally, but the spontaneous abortion take place of its own due to some natural or accidental reasons. But whatever be the reason, the word abortion is always a burning issue in the society and politics. In the United States, abortions were legalized after the case Roe v. Wade, 1973 ruled that laws banning abortion were unconstitutional. Since then, groups supporting the right to abortion (“pro choice”) and groups against abortion (“pro life”) have continued to have ideological battles over which argument should be the law of the land. However, a woman is best capable of deciding whether or not she is able and willing to care for a child. Thus, she should similarly be able to decide whether or not she wishes to terminate an unwanted pregnancy.…

Women always fought for the right to have abortions, it’s known throughout history. In 1973 a well-known case, Roe versus Wade, is what legalized abortion in the United States. “The United States marks 40 years of legalized abortion in all fifty states at any time for any reason throughout pregnancy on January 22nd, the anniversary of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision. Since that time, there have been approximately 55,772,015 abortions that have destroyed the lives of unborn children” (Ertelt, 2013). There are people who agree with abortion and there are those who don’t. In today’s society, they also call it pro-life and pro-choice; both, people who do and don’t agree with abortion, have their own options to this type of issue and debate its ethics. In the Roe VS Wade case they want the best outcome for the child as wel as the mother. When Roe legalized the right to abortion, these nations were changed, revising the parent-child relationship in completely new ways and removing parents from the equation when abortion was involved as a choice for a child (Kohm, 2014). Abortion is one of the most arguable topics even in politics. Why do people truly feel so strong about abortion?…

Life starts when two reproductive cells unite. It is false to say that life begins when a baby is born. If they aren’t alive, then why do women kill them? Babies start as a tiny embryo, and they grow and grow. They are born, then they keep growing into an infant, and then a child, and then eventually an adult. The only difference between the embryo in the womb, and the adult lots and lots of nutrition and say 20 years time. “Abortion (is) murder (because) the being inside the mother is living. The definition of something living includes the ability to grow, which is exactly what is going on inside a woman who is pregnant. An abortion ceases the growing process, therefore ending the future life of a human being. This little being may not start off with a heartbeat or brain activity, but cells are still dividing and allowing it to grow.” (Ross,…

Lee and George expand on the idea that “the human embryo, from conception onward, is fully programmed actively to develop himself or herself to the mature stage of a human being, and, unless prevented by disease or violence, will actually do so” (2). The moment the sperm and egg combine is when a living creature begins to form. Every single individual began as a human the size of a pinkie-everyone still grows and evolves into a more mature individual, just as any age person grows more everyday. It is human nature to finish whatever you start; you can’t just kill a flower right before it begins to bloom. A beating heart and developing brain begin to form as soon as four weeks after conception. In “Why I Am Pro-Life”, Thomas Friedman recalls the importance of having a presence on this Earth and that “respect for life has to include respect for how that life is lived, enhanced and protected — not only at the moment of conception but afterward” (4). Life is a gift should be treasured, not something where you can just get rid just because you made a mistake. When a woman gets an abortion, she is depriving the child of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. So how exactly do you define life? Life is any creature that is growing and has a niche in a certain environment; this includes the “clump of cells” that will evolve and flourish into a…

Abortion is murder because it's the killing of a human being. According to Unborn Victims of Violence Act of 2004 “the killing of an innocent human being is wrong, even if that human being has yet to be born. Unborn babies are considered human beings by the US government. The federal Unborn Victims of Violence Act, which was enacted "to protect unborn children from assault and murder," states that under federal law, anybody intentionally…

For me, religion is a fascinating institution to examine in the context of women’s rights and feminism. Growing up in a liberal-leaning Conservative Jewish synagogue; I have not been raised with the same religious ideology as those who have been raised Christian, the dominant religion in our country. Though it may not be the most creative choice of website for this paper, for me, the Family Research Council (FRC) is my first true investigation into a pro-life, Christian organization. The pro-life movement, as a whole, is one of great interest to me. Not the kind of interest that entices me to join or subscribe to their beliefs, rather, I am interested in the use of religion and religious ideology as a justification of denying women the right…

    Why Abortion Is Murder

    • 3 Pages

Abortion is murder because it involves the intentional killing of an unborn human being. In a survey 53.8% say that abortions should be illegal for this reason or more. Someone surveyed said, “If you have an abortion, they should go to jail because it’s murder”. If you destroy something that is alive, then it's considered murder. No one can deny that it is a murder of the innocent. Medical studies show clearly that a fetus is conscious and is performing all six life processes. Murder is defined as the unlawful killing of one human being by another, especially with malice and forethought. Abortion is defined as induced termination of pregnancy before a fetus is capable of survival as an individual. The definitions alone state that a human being as being…

It is evident that abortion is an issue that will not subside. There are two completely opposite sides of this issue in which no compromise appears to be apparent. The controversy lies on whether or not we believe human life begins at conception. By definition, life does begin at conception. The definition of alive means that the being is growing, developing, maturing, and replacing its own dying cells. These are all characteristics which are held by a fetus. If life does begin at conception, by law, human life is guaranteed equal protection therefore making abortion illegal in society. However in society today, abortion is made legal.…
