Abortion has been one of the most controversial topics in the United States. Teenpregnancy.org, a site managed by the National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy, says that there are 750,000 teen pregnancies annually in America. Some of these pregnancies occur because either there was a rape, alcohol use, peer pressure, or because of television influence. All these cases make abortion hard to resolve, and make people to be on one side or the other of the issue according to what they have experienced, their faith, or what they have heard from people who have gone through an abortion. Some say the woman should have a choice to end a pregnancy, while others say the child has a right to life. I am one-hundred …show more content…
percent against abortion because of my faith. I believe it is murder of one of God’s creations. It is listed in the Ten Commandments, which is the basic list of rules or laws for life, “Thou shall not kill”.
Pro-choice supporters, people that are for abortion, say that they have many reasons why they believe abortion is a good choice.
However, I cannot find an actual reason to kill a baby that makes sense. One example of a “good” reason why someone should have an abortion is if a girl was raped and left alone to raise a child. To those people they say the mother is too immature, irresponsible, and unprepared to have a child so she should have a choice not to have the baby. The baby would make the girl relive her rape every time she looked at he or she. They also say that a woman has the right to do whatever she wants to her body. If a girl gets pregnant and does not want the child then it is her choice to do go ahead and abort it. Another reason people that support abortion also say abortion is alright is because the fetus is not a fully developed and considered a living, human being until it is actually born. Women who have gone through with an abortion say that the reason why they did it was because the pregnancy was an accident. Most also claim that she was not ready or able to properly take care of a child. A reasonable response from many pro-life supporters is to carry the child to term and then give the baby up for adoption. unplanned.
Pro-life supporters, people who believe abortion is wrong and should be illegal, constantly try to get people who approve abortion to see how wrong it is. Many girls who have abortions have it in the first trimester, from conception to the thirteenth week, when the baby is just barely developed. Pro-choice supporters believe that during this time the fetus is not living so therefore it cannot be classified as murder. Here is the stages of development for the first trimester. By four weeks the fetus will continue to develop the heart and blood vessels, start the development of the lungs, liver, and stomach, and the structure of the face and neck will start forming. At eight weeks the baby is about three-fourths of an inch in size, eyelids and ears have started to develop, arms and legs have become distinct, and fingers and toes are starting to grow out. By the twelfth week, almost to the end of the trimester, the baby is about two inches and starts to move on its own. The doctor will be able to hear a heartbeat and the gender of the baby will start to become clear in an ultrasound. So knowing about the formation of the appendages, knowing what organs are developing, and knowing you can hear the baby’s heartbeat how can you tell people that the baby is not living. Being a nursing student I know that in order to be living you need a heartbeat. Also one thing pro-life people say is that if you got raped we understand that you are not prepared for a child or you may not want the child. However, instead of killing the baby, put them up for adoption. You could have the opportunity to take a terrible, tragic event that happened and make better by giving someone who, for example, cannot have a child on their own the ability to raise a child as their own. Many women would do anything for the pleasure of having a child and forming a family.
Many hospitals have stopped performing abortions unless it is necessary to keep the mother alive.
The number of freestanding abortion clinics have also decreased since the topic has been became a major issue. The number of abortions are also going down due to some legislative decisions of some states. However even with the decline of places to have abortions twenty-two percent of all pregnancies in the United States are
aborted.
Help save a life and join the movement to make abortions illegal. By doing so you not only change the baby’s life by giving them a chance to grow and live life, but you also can give the miracle of a child to someone who wants a child more than anything. A lady I knew convinced a young woman not to have an abortion and to give birth. The woman had tried for years to get pregnant with no luck. She paid for the young woman’s medical bills and took care of the woman. Now she finally has a beautiful, complete family with an amazing little girl. Stop abortions, promote adoption, and help save lives and help make others’ lives complete by giving them a child. Some good can come out of an unplanned pregnancy. It just all depends if you choose to create the good or to go through with murder.
