Problems with Tricare We are running into problems due to the fact that Tricare the military’s insurance company recently changed and they are giving out the wrong information. Tricare is where attention to detail is very important; however, the new employee’s are not following the guidelines. More research is required on our part to make sure the Tricare office does the proper research as well. Reading is one of the dominant metaphors for understanding organizations, which is a key factor if Tricare is to be successful. Tricare is running into problems because there is not enough research being done, the new employees are not paying attention to detail and the lack of the two entities not communicating with one another. The problem Tricare is running into is evident in most cases; it requires research on the employee’s part to log on to the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System also referred to as DEERS. DEERS has always been a problem as soldiers and their family members come to the hospital thinking that DEERS has been updated, trying to make appointments, and we have to turn them away until they go to the DEERS office, and make sure they gave the proper paperwork so they can be seen. My job also requires me to do research on all appointments for the upcoming day. Patient Categories are another area where the soldiers and family members are in our data system with the wrong Patient Categories or (PATCAT), so the research for this is to check the DEERS website, locate the soldier and family members making sure the information that comes up has the right PATCAT. I have the authority to change the incorrect information; however, if the family is enrolled in certain programs within the system, that requires a work order to be implemented to correct the wrong information. “Crystal balls are notoriously unreliable.
