PROCRASTINATION AND SELF-MOTIVATION
Procrastination and Self-Motivation While taking On Course this semester I used the “CORE” strategy to overcome both procrastination and to become more self-motivated. Before On Course I would wait until the last minute to get important tasks done. Whether the task was school work, home life, or work projects. I always managed to make myself overwhelmed with the amount of work to do and the little time to finish it. Not only was my academic ability off course my life was as well. I always felt like I was not achieving goals that needed to get done. While reading further into the On Course book. Chapter four highlights “CORE” collect, organize, rehearse, evaluate. These strategies will help overcome disaster. The collection step of core was something I was not use to using. Although my life and job requires me to collect important information. I would just throw it all together and hope for the best. The organization step is something that I am very laid back about. Nothing I do is ever organized. I never know where things are and for academics I never knew what a priority was. The rehearse step was just a word to me. Something I can laugh off. I’ve never rehearsed a thing. Not even important presentations at work. The evaluate step I would do but in my own way. A quick glance over and done.
These steps if followed carefully can change not only academics, but life and work. I have been using “CORE” through the rest of the semester. I have brought my grades up and my stress level has diminished. I use the collection step and gather all the information I can to support what the task is. Using the organization tool I prefer to use the concept map. Putting everything I know in one spot and figuring what should come next. Rehearsing is still a struggle for me I do rehearse flash cards and presentation’s, review questions for studying but I still struggle with speaking out loud and too myself. Evaluating all task has made me more aware of the mistakes

Most of the time procrastination isn’t always a bad thing. It could be good if you use your time wisely and think of good ideas. But on the other hand, it could be bad because, if you just sit around and do absolutely nothing. If you manage your time carefully, you would get done a lot faster and easier. As said in sentence 8, “Dr. Perry generously acknowledges that he has stood on the shoulders of iants, in particular Robert Benchley , the Algonquin Round Table Member. In 1930, Benchley revealed how he mustered the willpower to pore through scientific magazines and build a bookshelf when an article was due.”…

Procrastination is a trait I have wanted to change about myself for a very long time. I always put things off telling myself I will get to it, which leads to years of stalling. My issue with procrastination has hindered me in many ways, one being, applying for college. I believe a fixed mindset has prevented me from changing this trait because I sometimes shy away from change, therefore leading me to feel as though I have time, which prevents me from achieving those things I dream of. From a growth mindset point of view, I would change this by embracing challenges and believing that my life can be continuously…

A solution for this problem of procrastination Dr. Berkman suggests that you should change the way you value things. For instance increasing the value of your homework a decreasing the importance of going to a party. For example, you could think about how it’s important to maintain a good G.P.A to transfer to your dream University over going to a party where you won’t even know more than half of the people and you don’t even like dancing.…

I’ve overcome procrastination because instead of staying on the couch and not doing the dishes I stand and actually do them, and to be honest it felt good because I don’t have to do it later like the author said in the article because it's worse in our future because the dishes might pile up even more or you can get in trouble for not getting up and doing it right away overall I think I have overcome procrastination so far. What helped be successful on facing procrastination is actually wanting on doing it and there's not wanting to get in trouble. Procrastination is what drives people from their work, study, and even determination. Focus is what is needed in everyday lives, and though it is tempting to "delay" what is needed to be done, no excuse is worth it so instead of just “delaying it” just do…

Procrastination has become such a bad habit for me. It is hard for me to stop procrastinating. I believe I do my best writing at the last minute. I usually wait until the night before to do most of it. I am usually up late the night before the paper is due. Having things due dates has kept me on task, and keeps me from procrastinating until the day before the paper is due. There was one paper which we had to get sources for a while before the paper was due and it forced me to keep up with the paper, rather than let it go to the last minute. This class has taught me that the earlier you start the more positive your result will be. That was my mistake with the argumentative paper.…

Motivation is a multi-faceted process, and it is important to understand that all of these facets need to be running smoothly in order for workers to be motivated to perform at high levels. If just one component is low, motivation to perform well will also be low (Pritchard & Ashwood, 2008). When a manager finds motivation within their team to be low, it is important to take immediate and complete action. A four-step process that includes planning, evaluation of current motivation levels and diagnosis of the problem(s), identifying possible solutions, and finally going forward with the appropriate solutions and measuring results. In the case study: “Diagnosing and Improving Motivation (Pritchard & Ashwood, 2008)”, Jessica is doubtful at first that her team has motivation issues, but after some analysis, finds that it is indeed the problem. This paper explores the processes and motivational issues that Jessica must contemplate and improve in order to meet sales quotas for the year.…

As the writers said “Find the way to ‘get motivated’” (Moore, Baker, Packer,39). I think writers means that you should inspired yourself and find some reasons for yourself to do your work. In my perspective, we can tell ourselves some benefit if I can have done this work. For example, in my college life we also have lots of homework need to do, but most of time I do my homework before due time only few hours. Therefore, sometimes I cannot do my homework. If I can inspire myself do homework few days before due day, which I think I can get good job. Just like writers said when you feel you are procrastination, think about the benefit if you can finish work. You can get some motivation to do it.…
