Introduction Every day people are faced with dilemmas within their work place. Some of those dilemmas are minor while others are major and go against the ethics that people have. Some of them not only go against one’s personal ethics, but work ethics as well. Some are able to look past these dilemmas and continue on while others can’t and feel the needs to confront the person or person’s that are involved. One has to remember that their values maybe different than others and that is more so true within the work place than anywhere else’s. The work place is full off different people from different back grounds and all of these people are put together and somehow expected to work together in harmony. “There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest” (Quotes About Ethics, 2012).
Dilemma

While at work one day a lady who works with special needs children saw a fellow employee working with a student. As she continued to watch the two she began to notice that the teacher was becoming more and more frustrated with the student and the student became more and more irritated. The next thing the lady observed was the teacher taking the student hand and twisting it behind the child’s back in order to restrain him. The child was obviously in pain from the position the teacher had him in. The other coworker watching in horror and was not exactly sure what to do. She did not find it her place to say anything to the teacher because she was not in a possession of power, and fills if she says anything to the teacher she will

In order for an individual to be adaptive to the ever changing rolls of their jobs it is in their best interest to research their company’s standard operating procedures as well as being informed on new company policies that are being implemented. In doing this research however, the individual will notice that specific problems are not always documented or covered in these manuals. In the area of ethics, people who are given authority must use various lenses to ensure that the company is meeting the expectations of its employees to guarantee their rights and fair treatment.     A situation where I had an ethical conflict with a client is when there was a client who wanted to have an abortion. I was completing a house visit with an assigned social worker and I had to conduct the meeting. The client felt that she did not want a baby due to her age. I do not believe in abortion unless it is caught early on due to a form of sexual assault. However, I could not enforce my beliefs on the client. I had to rightfully inform the client of her options and what the decision could entail. When I explained the options to the client I did so because it was her choice to make.     I have often thought of myself as a good person. My parents raised me to respect my elders, be kind to animals and children, and to say always please. These are good qualities for a person to have, but it is important to know why people have these qualities. Showing common courtesy to someone may make an impact in that person’s day, but in the workplace common courtesy, especially unwarranted can lead to trouble.
