Most universities require a minimum of a Master’s Degree. In addition, there are many certifications that may be recommended and not necessarily required, such as a teaching certificate or specialty certifications in nutrition or diabetes management, etc. Usually, it is required to obtain continuing education credits to stay current in the field as well as maintain certifications. In addition, it may be required that taking courses regarding different types of learning styles and disabilities, being that not every student will learn the same way. In some cases, as a professor, I may have in class support for some students, such as an aide. The traits I learned about myself from the personality profile in the Learning Activity (KU Personality Quiz, 2016) include most of the ones listed as personality traits and requirements to become a professor, except for the education, which is in progress as well as the knowledge of learning disabilities. Some areas I will need to work on include furthering my education to at least a Master’s Degree, as well as education on learning styles and discrepancies (USBLS, 2017). I also will need to work on my time management to have time to not only prepare for classes and teach them, but also to be able to have the time for grading and extra help for students when needed.
