Communication is important within the work place as it help to develop relationships with both service users and service providers. It enables services users to feel confident, protected and help them to trust in their carers and services providers. Communicating with colleagues and family members help to obtain information about the service user which can better support the services and facilities that will be needed for that service user. It is important to communicate within the workplace as you can express any concerns or issues about the care of the services user, and to support and encourage them to feel confident. It is also important for the service user as they can relay how they are feeling, their needs, wishes and preferences.
1.2 – explain how communication effects relationships in the work setting
Communication affects relationships in the work setting as it helps to build bridges between different professionals. You learn how best to get a colleagues attention. You learn and adapt different ways of communicating. But you also learn to listen to others and relay what they have discussed with you and identify if there are any issues regarding their conversation. Relay back to confirm you have understood what they are saying or what they want you to do. Continuing to communicate you learn to grow effective ways of getting your point across being more aware of other people feelings. Body language and learning to gauge when there are problems is important. These steps build better relationships that intern give others confidence and security to approach and confided in you.
