The Electoral College always has it’s print on the elections and more importantly on the very close elections. It has done it’s job the over 200 plus years and throughout fifty presidential elections. So the electoral college is promising and durable. Both parties Republican and Democrat candidate feel at times as if they win the popular vote they win the election, but that’s when the electoral votes play their part. and the electors in each state abide by the people's voice but also can make final decision themselves. Most of the electors have to vote for the candidate that majority of the people in their state voted for. There is twenty seven states have laws where the electors have to vote with majority of the people. An elector that doesn’t vote for his state is called a faithless elector which is a disgrace of loyalty and completely untrustworthy. The overall purpose of the electoral college is to stop the automatic winning by the candidate that gets the popular most votes. The electoral college is promising and does it’s job, but it has it’s flaws. It is most effective when the popular vote is a split decision because then the people and the candidates rely heavily on the Electoral College votes through each state. Some states give more electoral votes than others. This is so because some states have more representatives than other states. The candidates running for president have to reach 270 electoral votes before the other candidate to win the presidency. Most candidates strive for the states that supply the most electoral votes which mainly includes california who has fifty five and the second state with a good amount of electoral votes texas which has thirty eight going against the candidates that gets the states with the less electoral votes and makes them count.
As you would believe it would take more states with less electoral votes to equal the single amount of a state like california. So, the electoral college is useful to the candidate that earned more respect to recieve more electoral votes by states. I agree with the electoral college and the way it works because it includes a group of well educated and politically capable electors.
Most people would be for the Electoral College because some people abide by the saying “if it isn’t broke don’t fix it”. Keeping the electoral college would keep the framers hard work going. The framers wanted the electoral college because they feared direct democracy and also didn't trust the population to make the right decision. Lastly, the framers really wanted to support the rural areas and small states to make sure they can have say so while electing their president. The electoral college is also mainly built for equality of power. The people have …show more content…
say so that leads influence towards the electors of their state choice on their president because most electors abide by the majority rule. That is a big role because the people all around the world abide by the three word saying in the preamble “we the people” so, therefore the people want the power that they think they have. Along with keeping the Electoral College small states maintain their power along with the big states. The confidence overwhelms the small states because some of those states feel like they never change the outcome no matter if they voted against or with the candidate. Proudly with the Electoral College benefits the small states more than the bigger states because the small states hardly compete with bigger states during the popular vote. The Electoral college applies power to the small states because in this year's election. Hillary and Trump both wanted to pursue colorado so bad, only because of the House Bill 1299 eventually being passed would allow small states like colorado to award all of their electoral votes to the candidate that won the popular vote. In this instance it would definitely favor Hillary because she won the popular vote by a good margin against Trump. Throughout history there has been no controversial results during the elections. The electoral college itself promotes a broad two party system ideologically and geographically, while maintaining a federal system of government and representation. The Electoral College also follows the country's past history by making a decisions while using popular support. Which means letting the more educated make a popular decision, while the uneducated felt as if they had say so during the decision. Having a more educated decision is what truly separates the Electoral College and Popular vote. The education of a vote stops the uneducated people from voting with their opinions that could be categorized in all types such as religion, race, laugh, health, and popularity mainly anything. Basically the Electoral College takes the people's votes and overall takes a look at who was chosen then discuss it and either go along with the people's voice or change it based on their knowledge. So, I believe all faithless electors made a strong decision because they may have felt that the people made a poor decision overall. Some uneducated people feel like their vote doesn’t count but it does, because even if it wasn’t a electoral college the big states would still have more power because of their bigger population.
Furthermore, without the electoral college there would be major corruption between the people because of who they choose or voted for as there president.
The Electoral college isn’t needed or wanted for some people because they want full control through their peers in the state and from the entire population worldwide. The uneducated people feel as if their vote doesn’t count which it does, but just not to their standards. When people felt their votes didn’t matter they were depressed, which then fuels them to vote badly the next election. Depressed voters could affect the election because it is a honest and loyal vote being given at the time. So, if people got the feeling that their vote counted it would be in their favor and they wouldn’t be depressed but a little satisfied. Basically the bottom class and unwealthy want more power, this would corrupt the world. The rich and wealthy wouldn’t agree with the others vote, but through popular vote majority rules. Without the electoral college the election would be all popular vote and if that was to be a split decision it would then force the House of Representatives to select a president. Also the people will have their power, but they would choose a minority president which means the wrong guy is in charge all because of a very uneducated vote. Next the votes wouldn’t be direct at all it would be hard to choose two overall candidate to vote and support the republican and democrat party. With no electors and their education
could lead to more ties and harder decision for the House of Representatives. The people would have what they wanted, but would it really be what they wanted. Having no electoral college would be chaotic the people need power, but not too much power. I feel as if the people believe in the Electoral College they just don’t trust the system because at times it’s not the candidate that they chose specifically. Some people feel as if the Electoral College lies that’s why they rely on the electors and the government to make the final decision throughout every election. Lastly, the most importnat reason why most people don’t want the electoral college is because it can easily be rigged. The electoral college and their candidates they represent have been accused many time of fraudulent votes. These votes could include people who are dead and also somehow some people can vote twice.
