Persuasive Essay : Should There Be A Ban On Texting While Driving
Do you think there should be a ban on texting while driving? Do you want to keep your children safe on the road? Did you know that teens who text and drive are the #1 cause of teen deaths? Also, escalation of fear and paranoia already took Texas by storm due to talk of the abolition of slavery. Lincoln won the presidential election of 1861 and the Republicans took control of the executive branch. With the Republicans now “strong enough in numbers”, Texas feared their rights would be taken for granted and the union would only fulfill the northern states wishes. Texas doubt was not without reason as Lincoln argued that all territories should be free and not allow slavery.…

Research has even found that the probability of a driver crashing is twice as likely if the individual was texting than if they were driving intoxicated. I will admit that I have fallen into the temptation of texting while driving, and I am not proud of making such a dangerous choice. Teens, in general, are very proficient when it comes to texting and they tend to believe that it has no impact on their driving skills. Many people tend to focus the texting while driving issue on teens; however, teens aren’t the only ones texting behind the wheel. One can easily do their own study by just observing other drivers…

The number of people who have been affected by texting and driving is dramatically increasing. Clearly the laws, punishments, and education up to this point have not done much to change how people view texting and driving. Due to the facts that have been revealed about texting and driving, it is imperative that the government takes strong action to fight this rising epidemic. Although it may be near impossible to keep people off their phones, it is vital that stricter laws are put against it. Law enforcement, including police and the judicial system must put their foot down and stand by it. All ages must be targeted as well. Even though older people may think they are more experienced behind the wheel, accidents can happen and they should not be able to use their phones either. It should also no longer be a question whether it is a safe time to pick up the phone and send a quick text. The punishments must be toughened, forcing people to face harder consequences if caught texting while driving behind the wheel. License suspension would be a strong preventive in order for people to keep both hands on the wheel. On top of the new laws that should be put against texting while driving, drawing attention and focus to people who have suffered tragedies from texting and driving could be a key part to prevent more from happening. Making sure people are fully educated, enforcing stronger laws, and following through with stricter punishments are the first things that need to be done in order to keep people off their phones. Do you want the last thing you see before flying off the road to be “What r u doing? LOL”? There is nothing so important in a text message that cannot wait until later. Do not let any more young individuals lives be taken from texting and driving. Do something about…

Driving is a privilege, and in many cases this privilege is abused. Some people don’t take driving seriously and this often results in terrible accidents. Other innocent people sadly become victims of this carelessness. The U.S banned several acts that result in accidents such as drinking under the influence. Driving while under the influence was banned because it affects the drivers’ concentration. Doesn’t texting while driving do the same thing? When a driver is texting his/her focus is not on the road and at any moment the driver may lose control of their vehicle. Texting while driving should be banned in every state because it’s a dangerous act; this ban will decrease the amount of accidents caused by this act, and it will provide safety for fellow drivers.…

Distracted driving is not only teens but it is adults as well. In the state of Florida there is no ban or law keeping anyone from texting and driving. They tried before for a bill with texting and driving and if convicted they would face up to $250 or to 30 days in jail. This bill did not last very long and today texting and driving has caused more wrecks. While driving, adults and teenagers cannot resist the urge to pick up their cell phone and send a text or respond to one, and as soon as the driver’s eyes meet their cellular device, their focus on the road is drawn away. There should be a law for this because more and more innocent people are losing their lives over someone whom is texting and driving. If we had this law it would help our rates come down and Florida would have safer roads. Of course some opponents feel that creating a law against cell phone use infringes their personal rights. Others think that banning someone from using their cell phones is equivalent to telling someone that they can't adjust their radio or chat with someone else in their car. Which is all reasonable statements but their missing the fact that this is killing the lives of innocent people and must be stopped for the stake of the citizens in Florida.…

Many consider that texting while driving can be very dangerous. They say that roads aren’t safe when driver’s text and drive. But in reality there wouldn’t be a difference in roads if the ban of texting while driving was enacted. In my opinion I don’t think texting while driving should be banned. I disagree with the whole concept of it. Banning texting while driving would be pointless, hard to enforce, and it isn’t the cause of increase in car accidents.…

State, Federal, and local lawmakers have placed laws into effect to ban the use of cell phones while driving. No state bans all cell phone use (handheld and hands free) for all drivers, but many prohibit all cell phone use by certain drivers. Even with laws permitting laws enforcement to ticket individuals who are caught texting, people continue to ignore the laws. Here are some solutions we can try: (1) Create cars that block texting while the vehicle is running. (2) Use technology such as Bluetooth headsets. The other solution would be like DWI’s, after the 2nd offense, suspension of driving privileges. With teenagers being the biggest offenders of texting while driving, we need to get their attention and help them understand the important issues at hand, “texting and driving takes lives.…
