1- Reggio inspired preschool experience by setting an environment that promotes exploration and discovery. Because children are innately curious about the natural world, the teachers need to provide materials and activities that would help the children to use their senses and their creativity to connect with the real world. Children were allowed to explore and discover in a supportive and rich environment where the children’s interests helped determine the curriculum (Biermeier 2015) 2- The pro-Reggio approach believed that the environment is considered as a teacher. They believed that the school should have a special place where children can use creative art as a tool to express their thoughts and their feelings (Drew & Rankin 2004).
-My two questions that I have about the Reggio schools are:
1- Q: What is the meaning of the phrase “the hundred languages of children?” the founder of Reggio “Loris Malaguzzi ”used this phrase to describe the multi-faceted ways children can learn about and communicate with the world around them through art. The Reggio educators believed children should be exposed to a variety of materials and media that would stimulate them to think, constructing, and expressing themselves in a better way. 2- Q: I understand that the Reggio approach is not teacher-directed. Is this true? Yes, this is true that the Reggio approach is not teacher-directed. The Reggio Emilia Approach allows the young mind to have a chance to participate in the decision regarding their own education with the support of the teachers and parents.
