Secondly, testing hasn’t been proven to show student accomplishment. The “No Child Left Behind Act” in 2002 caused the United States test rankings to drop (Standardized Test- procon, 2017). In the United States, the math program went from 18 to the 31st place. Science had a similar drop but reading seems to stay consistent. There are many good reasons for standardized testing, for example, teachers and parents would be able to tell if the student understands the material. Also testing is good because it focuses on basic skills the student needs in life. Testing has pros, there are cons that include testing don’t allow the child to be creative or have a sense of leadership. Another con is that these tests create a cheating scandal that is getting out of hand because students want to do well and teachers want their jobs.
