Every consenting adult should take responsibility for his or her actions by disclosing STD history, allergies to contents of lube or condoms, and interests involving sex. The other person should take the same action and if he or she doesn’t, sex shouldn’t happen. Health and safety should be on both partner’s minds when engaging in any sexual activity. Several people do not know how to bring up the subject of sex or of someone’s history, yet if they do it, they tiptoe around it. In my opinion, they should just come out and ask them. Our society and many other factors influence why we cannot ask other individuals these questions. If a person is offended by another person asking about his or her history, then sex shouldn’t happen. I didn’t find what the vaccine prevented until after I had the final shot. Human Papillomavirus is considered a sexually transmitted infection which can cause many different cancers such as cervical, anal, and throat. Just because it prevents infections, it doesn’t mean people shouldn’t take proper precautions when it comes to sex. By looking at the scientific evidence and outwaiting the pros and cons, I am for this vaccine. The main reason that parents do not want to get vaccines is because of severe side effects, but researchers have concluded that this vaccine is safe. A case study was conducted with 30,000 people, which one group got a placebo and the other was given Gardasil. The results stated that only 0.1% died in either group and some side effects appeared around the same time. If a person died and had the vaccine, it was unknown if it was from that or pre-existing symptoms. According to “Pros and Cons of HPV Vaccine,” “Of 10,000 women ages 15 to 25 who were vaccinated as part of clinical trials, none developed high-grade HPV-16 or HPV-18 associated cervical lesions, which are precursors to invasive cancer.
