Proverbs And Ecclesiastes From The Bible

It is very easy to dream a dream. But what separates the dreamers from the successful is their diligence and rejection of laziness in every capacity. Reading and study of the books of Proverbs and Ecclesiastes from the Bible reveal patterns and habits of successful people who are working alongside God towards eternity. The diligence in characters such as Lady Wisdom from Proverbs 31 helps shape our understanding of what it means to be a hard worker and the existential questions posed in Ecclesiastes can help us find motivation for diligence in the face of seemingly meaningless toil. A proper work ethic, according to Proverbs and Ecclesiastes, is dedication to being diligent in pursuit of God and His callings, giving effort in the face of uncertainty, and continuing to work for the good of the world even when the results may be invisible.

Hindson’s book gives a great list which includes traits such as: a diligent person is able to find motivation to do work, but the sluggard annoys his employers with their inefficient work ethic, and while the diligent person puts their dreams and desires into actions to make their visions reality the lazy person thrives on excuses (Hindson, 250). These contrasts are what separates the lazy and the diligent person. It becomes abundantly clear when their personal patterns of dedication are revealed at work which category they belong
