As a group we discussed different ideas and learning outcomes and agreed on that we will do a display on personal hygiene, specifically highlighting the importance of children washing their hands in order to eliminate germs and illnesses. This is a very important on-going issue that children need to be aware of. The display would have images and drawings showing when we should wash our hands and what would happen if we do not. The display will help with their fine motor skills when they are using materials to create drawings and materials, for example using scissors to cut out images, their creativeness while drawing images and their communication skills when they talk about what they think germs and viruses look like and what we need to do to eliminate them. It will also help them develop IT skills when they learn to use the internet to download image, in accordance with the school’s IT policy. This display will be aimed at children in primary school.

If we were in a school setting, we would hold a discussion with the children on the importance of washing hands, when we should wash our hands and why we should was our hands. We would ask the children to draw “germs and viruses”, using their imaginations and a variety of materials. We would identify children with special needs and include them in the learning process by ensuring we know what special materials we would need for them to be involved.
2.3
We would ask pupils to draw what they think germs and viruses would look like and describe them in their own words. We would ask them to use different materials and resources to create these images.
2.4
We will need pictures from children in the class, pictures from magazines and downloaded from the internet. We would also need tissue paper, scissors, colouring pens, crayons, markers, pva glue, notice board, a computer, printer and internet access.
