To establish and maintain a safe, healthy learning environment
Functional Area 1, Safe
Keeping the babies safe at the daycare is very important to me, I make it my number one priority
Young Infants
I do this by: * Laying the infants on backs at all times to sleep unless its tummy time. * Making sure all areas and toys are free of lose pieces or sharp edges. * Making sure everyone in the room knows where the first aid kit is at all times. * Taking a walky talky and travel first aid kit with us during our daily walks.
Mobile Infants
I do this by: * Making sure all seatbelts at tables and any chairs in our room are buckled at all times. * Making sure all areas and toys are free of lose pieces or sharp edges, I also make sure there is plenty of room for each child.
Toddlers
I do this by: * I remind the toddlers of the daily inside and outside rules. (Ex: No running in classroom or on sidewalk) * Making sure all areas and toys are free of lose pieces or sharp edges. * Taking the first aid kit outside with us every time we go.
Functional Area 2, Healthy
Keeping the classroom clean is also very important, it makes for happy and healthy babies
Young Infants
I do this by: * I allow the infants to choose a couple toys designated just for them each day to help stop the spread of germs. * Making sure all sheets are changed and washed daily, along with bibs. * Cleaning all toys daily, first wiped with Lysol wipes, then bleached when everyone has left the room.
Mobile Infants
I do this by: * Making sure all blankets and pacifiers go home every Friday to be washed. * Names on bibs to assure all bibs are given to correct child during each meal.
Toddlers
I do this by: * Mat covers go home every Friday to be washed, mats themselves wiped and bleached. * Making sure all mouthed toys get cleaned immediately. * Tables and chairs get cleaned and bleached after each meal with warm
