Task 1:
Two ways in which I have been involved in to make sure the children's safety is at high level are identifying possible hazards in the setting and maintaining security during arrival and departure times in the setting.
Possible hazards in the setting:
When I arrive at the setting I will go around the room to make sure all possible objects that could cause danger are safe and any toys that could cause harm are removed or fixed. Every morning and all the way through the day I will keep checking the sockets to make sure they all have a plug protector in unless it is being used. If there is not a plug socket protector in a unused socket I will get a spare one and put it in. if I cannot find another socket protector I will see if another room has any spare ones or I ask another member of staff for their opinion in what I can do if I don’t know my self.
Before toys are put in the room for the children to play will they will be safety checked. Through out each day staff will keep an eye on toys which have small pieces to them in which the children can cause danger to them self. If they think it is do risky they will remove it straight away. Any objects that have broke or have sharp edges will be fixed or put in the bin. For example I saw the plastic box was broke and there were sharp edges on it. I knew that the shape edges would cause harm to the children so it was removed from the play area straight away and put in the bin. I think my role for this situation was done fast and easy. I saw the hazard and thought fast of the dangers and removed the hazard fast.

To accomplish this goal I complete daily safety checklists that include ensuring exits and hallways are open, electrical cords are out of reach, evacuation procedures are posted, fire extinguisher is working, emergency numbers are posted, sharp objects and cleaning supplies are in locked cabinets, furnishings are structurally sound, toys are in good condition, and nap time mats not torn or damaged. To prevent and reduce injuries I involve my children in all safety practices such as praticing evacuation procedures. I model with my actions and words safety practices for example when crossing the street look for cars, when going on a walk outside remindering them that feet must stay on the sidewalk, hands must stay on the rope while going on a walk as well as when evacuating the building during fire drills, during monthly fire drills I remain calm and walk the children through the procedure, and I use a stool to reach in high cupboards (as children do for the sink) and explain it is safest to use a stool. .…

My comparisons are based on the surveys provided in the simulation. Tim’s seems to be offering a fair product but will need to compete with a chain coffee shop. This means he will have to offer exceptional service and value to his product. He needs to set himself apart from the standard chain store. He can achieve this by ensuring a wide variety of great products. Most importantly the service will make or break any retail establishment. Having great service and satisfied customers will keep them returning. The fact that he has an ideal location is a good start. Adding conveniences like debit card capability and wi-fi will only increase business.…

At our setting for example, if it was to be decided that our outdoor activity for the day was to be driving the push along cars and the push bikes. First of all someone would go and check that there are no obstacles such as debris and other play equipment in the area to be used in order to prevent any risk of accidents, also to check that the cars and bikes are in good working order and are safe for the children to use. These risk assessments are carried out on a daily basis for the safety of the children in our care. Our outside play area is enclosed with a wooden wall fence with a single 2meter gate to access it, which is always kept closed whether the children are in the play area or not. With this safely enclosed outside area the children are free to explore and play. Once we are ready to go out, the register is put into our first aid bag and taken outdoors with us. We take our register with us in case there was a fire then we can be sure of the attendance of children in our care on that particular day. The first aid bag is handy for any accidents that can be dealt with on site. When the children are outside, the ones that need assistance are helped into the cars or on bikes, or shown how to operate the equipment taking into account that every child is an individual with their own needs. Some children could be at the potty training stage or be using the toilet, so it is important that the toilets are checked for cleanliness and…

The room is set up in a manner so all children can be seen at all times. I make sure that all the electrical outlets are covered with protectors. All toys are checked daily for broken pieces, the room is clean and clutter free. For my infants, I make sure they sleep on their backs and that all the toys that are mouthed are washed with a bleach water solution, and the shelves and mats are cleaned before I leave. The child’s personal belongings are in his/her dresser drawer, cubby, or hung up. The children are encouraged to follow the rules such as walking, no running and sitting on a chair not standing. Part of my role is helping the children see the potential hazard whilst in and out of the nursery setting for example on our excursions if we are by a busy road the children know to stay as far away from the road as possible (next to the wall). We also make them pair up to look after each other (usually an older and younger child) and the children wear high vis jackets. I have explained to the children why it is important to wear the jackets.…

To establish and maintain a safe, healthy learning environment I model safety practices and healthy routines in an environment that supports development and growth in these areas. My goal is to provide a clean healthy environment that meets each child’s physical needs. Making sure the classroom and playground are clean and safe at all times reduces the number of injuries of children while they are in my care. One of the ways I do this is by supervising children at all times by sight and sound even during nap times. Making sure all outlets are covered so children can’t access them. I make sure inside as well as outside there is nothing children can harm themselves on such as sharp objects or small items they can choke on. I ensure that all chemicals and cleaning supplies are put away out of the reach of children or stored in locked cabinets. I am certified in First Aid and CPR, which makes me knowledgeable of caring for accidents or injuries.…

My first priority is to keep the environment safe to reduce injures. I will take my responsibility very seriously and make sure that there is no child injures at the center. I will make sure that there is no infant left unattended on a changing table. Young infants are only allowed to sleep in their cribs. Not in the car safety seat, bouncy seat, or any other equipment that is not safety approved. Cribs in our facility will be free of blankets, toys and other soft materials that could cause suffocation. All of our facility toys will be large enough to prevent infants from trying to eat or swallow objects that could cause choking. On a daily basis, all toys and equipment will be inspected to make sure they are safe and in working order. Broken toys, chipped wall paint, loose nuts and bolts or splinters from wooden furniture will not be acceptable at any time. All electrical cords and wires in my facility will be tied and out of sight to prevent children from tripping and falling. All of our unused electrical outlets will be covered by safety devices to prevent children from placing objects into the sockets. Last but not least, safety rules and guidelines will constantly be preached and practiced by our children.…
