Establish and maintain a safe healthy learning environment.
I provide a safe environment to prevent and reduce injuries for children age 3 to 5 years old by doing a quick check every morning before the children start to arrive. I make sure that there is enough space for the children to move around without constantly bumping into eachother. I make sure that the room is well lit and all electrical outlets are covered, and all electrical appliances are out of the children's reach. I make sure all dangerous substances such as bleach and cleaning supplies are well out of the reach of children.
I make sure all smoke detectors are placed properly and checked for expiration dates and practice using them at least once a
month. I make sure evemgency evacuation procedures are posted. I practice how to leave the building quickly with the children once a month. I make sure emergency numbers are posted by every phone.
I check the toys in each area to make sure there are no cracked or chipped toys that could injure the children. I do the same thing with the outdoor play equipment before the children are allowed to play outside.
I promote good health by making sure that the children's immunizations are all current and up to date. Each parent is given an immunization schedule from the state health department. I make sure all the children and I receive a health exam annually and a record is kept at the Center.
