Puck’s personality is very light-hearted, careless, and obedient. You can easily see that he is very energetic. He is always hopping around and “up and down and up and down.” He also seems careless about his mistakes. When Oberon pointed out that he put the potion on Lysander instead of Demetrius, he treated it like it was just fun and games. After Oberon tells him to fix it, he only corrects part of it by putting the cure on Lysander, having Oberon put the potion on Demetrius, which Puck didn't do. The most notable of Puck’s motivations is laughter. This can be seen in all of the personality traits listed above. It can be seen in his light-heartedness because light-heartedness is positive emotion and laughter is a sign of very positive emotion. It can be seen in careless because when he is careless it can be good entertainment for himself. It can be seen in obedient because I seen in Act I Scene II he says that his job is to make Oberon laugh. Another motivation for Puck is power. This probably is why he is so obedient to Oberon. Since Oberon is king of the fairies, being his friend and servant would come with lots of power. He can be seen manipulating things to go his way in the play so it wouldn’t surprise me that this is how he normally acts. Another motivation for Puck that would explain why he is so careless is that he knows he is in a dream. In the final scene of the play, he tells the reader that everything in the play is just a dream. In fact, almost everything that Puck says can be interpreted as talking to the reader and informing them of important information. The reason that he doesn’t care at all about his mistakes might be that he knows that he is in a dream. It also makes more sense that he knew he was in a dream the whole time, instead of just all of a sudden knowing right at the end when he tells
