Good Morning Pumpkin It’s a warm evening in late October, and all but one has prepared for the great celebration. Today is the day I’m taking my daughter to the biggest pumpkin patch in all of San Diego. It has all kinds of great things for kids to do. Slides, mazes, and all other kinds of fun stuff will be waiting for my sweet little Evie and she’ll be thrilled when we bring back a great big orange pumpkin that she gets to carve into whatever she likes. She gets a kick out of all the little things which makes me flashback to my childhood whenever I take a glance at her. It feels like just a minute ago where I was six years old going to my first pumpkin patch that I could remember ever so detailed . Particularly I remember this specific day where my mom and I were driving to the pumpkin patch right across the street from my first house in California. As a child I was psyched up, I couldn’t wait to look at all the pumpkins and carve it as a dinosaur. I literally was obsessed with dinosaurs until the age of nine. We parked our 1997 Corolla and started to walk to all the bright orange pumpkins. Something was strange from the looks of this place. All the pumpkins had white little tags on them but they weren’t dollar signs like you would expect. They all had words on them, I was only six at the time so I couldn’t read that much. A few words I read out loud from one of the white little tags but struggled to read the whole sentence. My mom was confused too, why would all the pumpkins have stupid little quotes on them she murmured. We soon found out shortly that this was at our advantage and not a disappointment. A tall black man with dreads came out of the trailer by the pumpkin patch and walked up to us. He asked “What can I help you with folks?” My mother asked him about the pumpkins and the quotes on them. He laughed, since it’s three days before Halloween were having a little contest.
