Both of my parents went to college and both of them also went on to get a post-graduate degree. To them a college education is a necessity to be successful in life. Neither one of them expects me to get into or go to Harvard or Yale, but they do expect me to go to a respectable college. Some teenagers often do not go to college because they must get a job to support their family. Thankfully my parents have always said that I do not need to get a job until after college. The academic and financial support my parents have provided me has cause me not to think of college as a unattainable dream, but almost as another step in my educational , similar to high school or middle school. My parent’s knowledge of the college and the admission process has taught what I need to do in order to put myself in a position to get into a respectful college. The advice and knowledge from my parents has taught me not to just worry about my grades because colleges do not like book worms. Colleges like kids who show they can manage many activities while still maintain a solid 4+ GPA. This attitude has been a positive for me because now I am in many extra-curricular activities including playing Varsity lacrosse, being on the Academic Bowl team, and playing two instruments. Without my parents I could most definitely see myself being a book worm, but thanks to them shaping the attitude that colleges look at more than just grades I have become more outgoing. My parents influence on my view n attitude of college has most definitely been a positive one, and thanks to them, so far, I have been very…

College is one of the periods of life where there is most growth, both personally and academically. Going to college is a very challenging yet rewarding experience. It brings people out of their comfort zones personally, whereas academically, people get to focus more on what they are good at. In my case, it will be a challenge to adapt to the college environment at the same time that it will be very comfortable to finally study subjects that truly interest me. This exciting challenge is the main reason I want to go to college. Most people want to go to college to get a degree and earn a lot of money, which leads them to more expensive and selective colleges. I, on the other hand, intend to focus more on the course and the subjects I will study.…
I love volunteering and traveling and I always have a fantasy of being a flight attendant or a manager of a non-profit organization, but in term of academics, I cannot say that I love economics and can do it as a living. However, I do need to start looking for a professional job or internship that related to economics in order to have a sense of awareness of what people do by having a degree of economics. The question makes me realize that a lot people around me are not doing what they love, even my sister. My sister graduated with a degree of Economics, and currently works at Deloitte which is one of the world top 5 business tax companies. She told me that it is not what she loves, but it is not what she hates either. The reason she stays mainly because of the working environment and people are nice, and she feels secure to have a solid job. Maybe she is right, or maybe she is wrong; maybe she is a “sheeple”, or maybe she just wants to confirm she is not doing it…
There is nothing that means more to me as a young student than going to college so I can build upon my education. Not only would it benefit me, but I believe my family would benefit also, if not indirectly. Going to college would make me the first generation in my family to work hard enough to further my education. Not only did my parents not go, my grandfather did not attend also. If there is anyone who has pushed my to do my very best to do well in school, it is my grandparents because I know they want me to succeed and live a good life. Since neither of my parents were able to attend college, it is important to me to set an example for my younger brothers and sister. There's nothing more that I want than to be the best I can be: I want to…
Do I continue my education or not? The answer to this question has been life altering for me. To continue on with my education, despite the many changes over recent years, was a tough decision. There are days when I still ponder if it was the right one, but I plod along making necessary adjustments along the way. I know that college will become the foundation that I need in order to achieve great success in my career as an elementary school teacher.…
