Education is and important process in life, through which we acquire knowledge from an experienced and well qualified instructor. The level of education received depends greatly on how well qualified the instructor is. A good instructor must have several good qualities, some of which include knowledge, patience, and punctuality. To begin, knowledge is the most important factor that determines how good an instructor can be. As long as an instructor possesses valuable and explicit information that can be clearly transmitted to another student, there is no doubt that this instructor is knowledgeable. Some people might also argue that an instructor’s knowledge might sometimes be transmitted with certain difficulties to other students. It is in this sort of circumstances that we talk of patience. Not everyone has the same level of comprehension and understanding this knowledge could also differ in context (depending on the type of student to which the information is being transmitted to). It is therefore important for a good professor to be able to understand these differences and make sure that his instructions are being well transmitted.
Moreover, another factor which determines whether a professor is a good one is his punctuality. This is very important because it shows to students that the professor is very responsible and he/she is much respected as well. Mutual respect is very necessary too because if the instructor does not respect his/her students there is misunderstanding between the two parties and the instructor will finally be judged as a bad one. To make a long story short, a good professor is someone which has a lot of good qualities but most importantly possesses knowledge, patience and punctuality or mutual respect. It is important to keep the students well satisfied with one’s job because, after all, it is the students who actually determine if a professor is good for them or not.

These characteristics include being: caring, timely, and encouraging. When I think of the teachers that have had the most impact on my education, all of them have most if not all of these traits. I expect a professor to be caring. I know that professors are extremely busy and have a huge variety of students, however; I believe a professor should attempt to care not only about the academics of their student but about the student as a person as well. Knowing that the professor cares about me as a person allows me to ask for help with ease. Part of being a caring professor also means being available and accessible if a student does need help. University of Wisconsin-Whitewater allows students to get extra help from their professors with ease by establishing office hours. I expect the professor to be available during their office hours and to reply to emails if questions are asked. A professor being timely is another characteristic I believe is essential. Nothing is worse than handing in a paper and then waiting two to three weeks to get feedback on it. As a type A personality, I worry about my grades more than I’d like to admit. Being an encouraging professor is also vital. If a professor is encouraging, the students are more likely to succeed. My favorite type of classes occurs when the professor creates an environment in the classroom where every student’s opinion matters. This type of environment allows for…

A great teacher must be fair to absolutely everyone. This includes treating every student with the same respect; having no favourites. Teachers who do this will almost always receive that respect in return from the students. This helps the class function well so the student will learn more. They also create fair guidelines and rules for the classroom. Along with these come reasonable punishments in case they are broken. A great teacher is understanding and knows when to bend the rules a little. For instance, when a student has many extracurricular activities it may be difficult to get all there homework done on time; an excellent teacher would recognize this and talk to the student about it. If teachers are not fair with all of their students, they will not get the respect they desire. This in turn leads to difficulties in the classroom and disobliging students. The reason why students do not enjoy unfair teachers is that they do not understand that students have other obligations after class sometimes.…
