In the novel, "Black Boy" Richard grew up a confused child who didn't understand how the two races were different. Richard say in the novel that when he looks at his grandmother doesn't see what other people see. It's like he was blocked off from the real world. or police officer see color and they see an enemy. On the cover of many new articles there are stories that involves a police officer and African-American. Racism still exits till this very day and may not ever go away. As an society are we taught to this way or are we born to think this way. We may never know the answer.
There are more black men killed then white men killed.
Between the years 2004 and 2008 there were 45-officer-involved shootings. Of those 45 that were shot 37 of them were black men. The National Association for Advancement of Colored People or (NAACP) found that there were no weapons found in 40 percent of the cases. It's hard to believe that someone would pull the trigger just because of the color of someones skin. Where these polices officers taught to think this way or is there another reason for doing so. Between the years 1999-2014 70 black men and women were killed. In one case 4 police officers fired 41 shots at a nineteen year old black-man. He was walking out of his apartment with his wallet in hand when the cops fired. The cops approached him because he matched the appearance of a person they were looking for. The officers were acquitted of the charges. I personally feel as if they should have been locked away of what they did. They didn't have to fire the gun at all, they could have asked him some questions and handle it in a calmly
way.
We as people should thrive to become better role models to our youth. If they see us respecting each other then they will acknowledge it and learn from it. We have to teach them that we are all equal and we all have the same potential to be successful in life. Kids should be taught how to be respectful towards each other and not hateful. There are many problems that could be easy to solve but we have to put in the effort.
