The fast paced, growing world that we live in today has so many things that are hidden. But now a days they have been opened to the people and talked about more. I can remember one thing that my grandma would always tell me,”things that happen in the dark will always come to light.” Racial profiling is the thing that has been the national topic. Racial profiling refers to the targeting of particular individuals by law enforcement authorities based on their race or ethnicity but not by their behavior or if they did any wrong. I believe that racial profiling towards black individuals by the police and or white individuals is wrong and it should stop. This is shown through the many of events that has been over the nation. Racial profiling is supposed to be illegal but there are many cases that show that it is still happening in the United States. We have seen a lot of racial profiling since the events of 9/11 but African Americans have been racially profiled way before that event happened. I personally have been a victim of racial profiling and was pulled over for no apparent reason other than the fact that I was African American. Although I agree that the nation’s security is very important I don’t agree on signaling certain people out just because of their race. This is something that Whites would rarely if ever have to deal…

In the United States of America racial discrimination still exists to this day. Minorities in our country are not seen as equal people. When a person is deprived of their human rights it makes them feel degraded and troubled. In order to become a more civilized country, we must forget the color of our own skin and live with each other as one. In the article “Why Racial Profiling is a Bad Idea” by Tom Head, discusses the way cops pay more attention to those of minority races and how they usually find them guilty of crimes they didn’t commit. Even though many officers will deny their participation in this type of profiling, a lot use this tactic to pull over and arrest Minority races. The article “Racial Profiling Lives On” by Devon Carbado, Cheryl Harris and Kimberle Crenshaw, also displays examples of how racial profiling continues to this day. There are many ways cops can search/arrest African Americans or other Minorities for no reason and still keep from breaking the Fourth Amendment and the authors of “Racial Profiling Lives On” supports there claims with emotional examples that appeal to a pathological type of audience.…

Theoretically, racial profiling means safety precautions provided by the government aimed at certain ethnic/racial groups in order to keep the crime rate and a possibility of the terrorist attacks relatively low. This phenomenon has been ever-present in American society and had a lot of examples throughout the country's history. Even though racial profiling does not sound positive, it is still practiced against certain minorities in the US as a way to keep the country a secure place. However, there is a thin line between being cautious and harassing innocent people. No matter how noble the goal is, racial profiling cannot ever be justified.…

The issue of Racial Profiling in America by our Police Force is an undeniable truth and tragedy. Steve Holbert and Lisa Rose in their book the color of Guilt & Innocence recount a story of a Caucasian woman who is forced to walk alone with her young daughter down dark unfamiliar San Francisco streets at night in the dark. We’ll call this woman Lisa. She had just exited a train car with her young daughter and was walking down the dark streets unsure of her surroundings when she noticed that a stranger man, whose features she couldn’t make out, was following her and her daughter. Lisa had heard and seen reports about a young man in his mid-20s that was dark complected and had been robbing tourists. She felt her body tighten as she began breathing rapidly and she had quickened her pace pulling her daughter along without realizing it, until her daughter started pulling her in the opposite direction because she had dropped her candy cane that she had gotten from the cable car employee earlier that evening. “After her experience in the city, she began to question whether the irrational fear of monsters conjured up in the mind of a four year old was so different from the “monsters in the closet” we perceive as adults, the only difference being that the “monsters” we see as adults have a face and the face is of those who are different or those whose skin color is darker than our own. (Holbert, S; Rose, L 2004). This begs the question, “Did she fear this man because it was…

“I can’t breathe, I can’t breathe.” That’s what Eric Garner said when a police officer killed him for no reason in Staten Island. Garner was accused of selling cigarettes illegally, and in the video taken of the event Garner mentions how the cops have always ragged on him for selling illegal cigarettes. Garner combats the police by saying “I did not sell nothing!” and “Whenever you see me you want to mess with me! It stops now!” Officer Daniel Pantaleo compulsively choked Garne and killed him. He was 43 when he died. This was the first incident that had ample attention brought to it, but there have been many racist police encounters with African-Americans over the years. This incident also opened the issue of African-Americans targeted by police…

Racial profiling by police has been in the news more than it has ever been before. People have been shot and killed by police only because on how they look suspicious and they haven’t caused any harm to any one around them. Racial Profiling by police is wrong because it has been ineffective and it has led to deaths of people of color and has also lead to arrests. Racial profiling is ineffective and it abuses practices that target innocent people based of how they look, and a strategy that shouldn’t be used in law enforcement. In a recent incident two men of color were arrested in a “Philadelphia Starbucks, waiting for a business meeting and when they asked to use the restroom they were denied, and later on arrested for not wanting…

In 2011 twelve year old boy named Tamir Rice was shot by police for playing with a bebe gun outside. A girl named Aiyana Jones was shot by a policeman while she was sleeping on the couch during a home raid by police. There are many more of these cases, one thing they have in common, they were all black and all cases were ruled as not guilty. 41 black boys have been reported shot unarmed since 1980 to 2012, the average age of blacks killed by police was 30 the average age of whites was 35 ( deadly force in black and white Gabrielson). The black lives matter group no matter how old the case is still trying to get justice for the family. Trayvon’s family got higher than a million. There's a 49 percent chance of a black person getting shot by police than a white person and at least half the cases remain not guilty. At least fourteen police officers got away with murdering an unarmed black teenage alone in the year 2015 ( chuffington post…

There have been around 715 people that have been shot by police alone in 2016. Police violence in the US has become a major point of interest recently due to the amount of shootings. In recent news there have been many reports of police shooting and/or killing black men, which has led to movements such as the black lives matter movement, a movement working for the validity of black lives. Although there are points made to support both sides of the story, I feel that the police are to blame for the recent amount of violence. Many of the recent reports of black males being shot by the police has sparked a conversation about if the police should wear body cameras and has sparked the gun control debate in the United States. After reaching levels of police brutality as it was in the 1990’s with things…

There’s been a lot of police brutality because they were using racial profiling. There been news reports that a white police officer attacked a black guy because he was wearing a black hood when he was walking home in board daylight so that’s how a lot of people were outrage because that young boy didn’t do anything wrong and he got shot simply because he was black because the police officer thought he was dangerous because he was black and wearing a black hood if it wasn’t for racial profiling that young man would probity would of still being alive today with his family instead of being dead because the police officer thought he was dangerous. There’s been another report in LA that a police officer was on duty and when he was patrolling found two Mexicans and they insisting thought there were in a gang and shot them. They later found out they were not armed and that those two guys they shot were actually on their way to school. We can even go as back as the La Riot that happen because racial profiling was so bad that police officer kept abusing their power and attacking innocence people. They the La Riots went on a rampage for about 2 days until the military came and stopped it because when a Riots were happing police were getting killed by anger people it got to a point where they left LA because…

The second largest group that is racially profiled are African American. Examples of this targeting are who authorities decide to pull over in traffic stops, this is referred to often as “driving while black or brown”. The theory of this states that if of African American decent you are more likely to be pulled over. Although "Driving While Black/Brown" traffic stops and searches are the form of racial profiling that has received the most media attention, profiling takes place off the roadways as well. Black and Latino pedestrians are regularly stopped and frisked without reasonable cause.…

the issue of racial profiling takes many shapes and forms. It is an issue that most of the free word is dealing with on a daily basis. In the United States racial profiling has been a hotly debated issue for many years. It has been reemphasized even more following the three separate terrorist attacks on September 11th 2001 that killed about 2,996 people. From its extreme form to the moderate, racial profiling is being defined as using a person's race as a factor to determine whether or not a specific person is a suspect. Many claim that racial profiling and racism are the same, that racial profiling undermines the right of privacy and liberty, and that innocent people suffer when it is used. However, despite the validity of these claims, the use of racial profiling is appropriate but not our faults.…
